Meet Scholar Worsted 3.0
AND our NEW Scholarly Stripes Hats!
We are delighted to be stocking our NEW Scholar Worsted 3.0 base for the fall and winter seasons! It's the perfect yarn to give the warmth needed, while not weighing you down with bulk!
What makes this Scholar Worsted 3.0?
We have found a lovely mill here in the States that has helped us develop this new blend that almost exactly replicates our previous Scholar 2.0 base! While still the same beautiful blend of 75% Merino and 25% Cashmere, and still woolen spun, the only difference is that the 3.0 version is a touch lighter weight than previous. While still a Worsted weight, Scholar 3.0 can flex between a heavy DK to a Light Worsted, depending on the fabric you are trying to achieve, making it a more versatile base!
When sending this out to sample knitters, we encouraged them to knit with 2.0 and 3.0 in the same project. They have all said they can hardly tell a difference between the two!
What to Knit with Scholar 3.0? Meet Scholarly Stripes!
This new and versatile hat pattern by Plucky Knitter Design is the perfect companion to Scholar 3.0 in that it embraces the next-to-skin softness offered in this custom milled, woolen spun yarn. This bold, eye-catching accessory is not only a pleasure to wear, but a super simple knit as well! With alternating bands of color, you can make your hats in a classic combination, or choose a more vibrant pairing of colors that is completely all your own!
What Other Patterns Could You Knit with Scholar 3.0?
If you are more interested in stripes and texture... then try the Highlights Pullover by Tif Neilan! This sweater has a drop-shoulder construction, worked from the top-down. This design features stripes / bands of texture throughout, worked in a combination of Stockinette, Garter and Slip-Stitch patterns. This design includes a high-low split hem (the front being shorter than the back) and full-length sleeves. Highlights Pullover is adorned with a touch of colorwork on the Sleeves and includes an option for contrast color duplicate stitching colorwork, inspired by visible mending.
And, of course, we need a shawl to showcase this beautiful base, and we've had our eye on the Soft Focus by Samantha Guerin! Soft Focus is a generously sized, light and ethereal shawl. This asymmetrical triangle begins with just a few stitches and increases out to its full width. Easily memorized lace sweeps across the body of the shawl, nestled between waves of garter stitch and a slipped stitch edge creates a smooth and tidy border.
Whatever knits or crochet projects you choose, we hope you love this "new" custom milled base as much as we do! And, we would love to hear how you like working with Scholar 3.0 during our Fall KAL over in our Ravelry group. Feel free to join at anytime!
Happy Making Friends!!
