New Year! New Bases! New Making!
It’s the start of a brand-new year and we could not be more excited with your response to the 4 NEW bases we’ve curated in limited quantities for you to try!
While we’ve sold out of 3 of them, we still have the Peruvian Highland Fingering (which we love!) PLUS 7 of our old favorites.
We’ve had fun trying out the new bases and hope you do too!

Aura Lace
It's more mohair-y than Sophisticate, but still has a lovely drape. This kid mohair blend is one of the softest types of mohair available with its fine fibers coming from the young goat's tummy! It has a fabulous luster and shine. Great for socks, hats, neckwear, garments and more!
Plume Lace
This lovely, new-to-Plucky, blend is a great alternative to those who are sensitive to mohair, but still would like that fluff in their knitwear. Because this delicate fiber comes from a Suri Baby Alpaca, it is butter soft, silky, and light as a feather! Although Alpaca is not a strong fiber on its own, the generous silk percentage in this base gives this yarn plenty of strength for various knits. Great for hats, neckwear, and garments.
Stout BFL DK
This versatile base from a special breed of English sheep works great for all the knitting! It is hard-wearing, yet soft enough for next-to-skin wear. This non-superwash base is perfect for colorwork, cables, steeking, felting… and the list goes on! Great for hats, mitts, neckwear, garments and socks.
Peruvian Highland Fingering
Cozy colorwork anyone? We’re excited to invite Peruvian Highland wool to the Plucky Studio! This new-to-Plucky base is a softer alternative to 100% wool, yet it still has all the benefits! It has nice elasticity and strength, wears well, is not prone to pilling, and is also a non-superwash. This woolen spun base is a truly wonderful all-purpose yarn. Perfect for colorwork, cables and steeking. Great for hats, mitts, neckwear, and garments.
In addition to our four new bases, we’re offering some of our old favorites. To learn more about each of these custom milled bases, click the images!

Reminders about hand-dyed yarn:
- We work hard to obtain the most accurate colors in the photographs we show on the website. However, every computer has different monitor settings. For this reason, we cannot ensure that the colors all monitor's display will exactly match the color of the yarn.
- Because our hand-dyeing process is as much of an art as it is a science, we may not be able to reproduce a colorway exactly the same as it may be pictured or match it from one dye lot to another.
- We strongly recommend alternating skeins on any project that uses more than one skein of the same color to ensure random color distribution.
- While we do our best to ensure colorfastness in our yarns, a small amount of color transfer is not uncommon. We highly recommend spritzing or steam blocking your knits to avoid colorway bleeding. For more info on caring for your knits check out our Care Instructions.
