Recently I spoke about my apprehension and then conversion to the ever humble and lovely shawl/shawlette. Of course, you still won’t ever see me wearing it the old fashioned way (fantastic for others, just not my cuppa tea) but you will see me with them bunched up around my neck or haphazardly about my shoulders. They’re just so much more interesting a knit than a regular scarf and something special about they way the huge the neck/shoulder area.
Now, the latest addition to the shawlbutnotwornasashawl aresenal:

The past week and this next week promise to be a crazy one. Plucky Classics will be shipping out in waves starting tomorrow, Monday, September 28th through Wednesday the 30th and also on Tuesday and Wednesday will be last minute preparations for my trip to Seattle. Wait? What? Didn’t I tell you? Oh, this is exciting….. if you are in the Seattle area on Sunday, October 4th, there will be a Plucky Knitter Trunk Show at Churchmouse Yarns & Teas from 12:00 to 5:00. The wonderful ladies at Churchmouse and I would love to see you! There will be cashmere as far as the eye can see! And, of course, other fun yarns too. But, you know, we are coming into full-on cashmere season!
Then upon my return I’ll have a little yarn related announcement….. stay tuned.

Or ‘why I’m now ok with wearing a scarf with a pointy end’……
Truth be told, lace has always intimidated me. While I surely appreciated the craftsmanship and attention to detail that goes into knitting lace (as well as designing the patterns for goodness sakes!) I never thought it to be something I would be interested in wearing. Ever. In all honesty, it just seemed so….. old. And, why oh why would I want to wear something that pointed straight at my bum? Really??? Or that had the potential to make me look much older than I ever want to??? (Just being honest here). And, well, as I said, it intimidated the daylights out of me. But then I started seeing all these Ishbels (and other amazing lace projects) pop up in the Plucky Knitter Group on Ravelry (go have a look, you’ll get a kick out of all the great projects) and I just couldn’t help myself.
And, from a purely functional standpoint, it’s a fantastic scarf. The drape is great, pairs well with collared shirts or a plain old tee and cardi (which happen to be my uniform of choice) and it’s great for more temperate environments as it’s not bulky at all. So, you’ll never see me sporting a shawl (or shawlette if you will) worn the traditional way, but you will see me with them bunched up around the neck/shoulders as a scarf/wrap.

Since the finished Ishbel is such a hit I am now knitting Hayworth. It’s so Art Deco-y…… I’m actually further along than this pic suggests (wish I were further along as I am suppose to be test knitting – Sorry Victoria!!!), it’s a surprising quick knit (would be even quicker had I not left it on the patio and then had it drenched by a sudden down-pour and then had to unskein, wait for it to dry and then reskein). Hayworth is the first (can you believe it?!!?) design by the lovely Victoria. Check it out, really, you’ll love it.

I’m so loving all your comments/suggestions. If you haven’t read through the comments for the contest you simply must – some fantastic suggestions to be had. Just a reminder that the contest runs through Sunday, June 28th.
Also, I’m quite sure I mentioned this before, but because it’s just so fun and the finished projects are amazing, I wanted to remind you of the Knit-Along we’re having over at the Plucky Group on Ravelry. Not only is it a festive and welcoming group, it’s a wealth of information for all things Plucky Yarn related as well as just about anything you’d ever want to know (book recommendations galore, pattern help, more food recommendations, garden tips, travel… the list goes on)! Won’t you join us?
One more thing, for those of you that have inquired – sign-ups for Plucky Classics will be tomorrow, Thursday, June 25 at Noon Eastern.

Things I’m loving today~
Few pics from our little road trip last week/weekend.

Plucky Knitter – MCN Sport – Honey Wilkes (on the way home from NY/NJ stuck in traffic)

Last week we had an impromptu flight/road trip home from NY – here S is taking pics (what’s new?) in Grand Central Station.

Times Square

And, of course, cupcakes. Just wish we would have had time to check out Crumbs and Two Little Reds Hens. They come highly recommended. But, with a mere 24 hours to spend in NYC, we were doing good to stumble across Magnolias.
