Oops – tomorrow turned into a couple extra days there didn’t it?

Well, I promised you some more accessory suggestions didn’t I? First up is the Plucky Curacao Cowl from Thea Colman (a.k.a. Babycocktails). Using just two skeins of Plucky Merino SW Worsted…. well, let me let Thea explain:

“The cowl is knitted as a long ribbed piece and sewn into a simple smocked design at the end. The detailed design is a nice balance to the soft and chunky cabled edges of the cowl, and I love how it looks in the yarn, which is the perfect weight and softness for neck wrapping.”

One can never have too many cowls I say. They are endlessly versatile, make great gifts, are quick projects and a great way to use up a skein or two of special yarn.

I’m saving her other lovely pattern for another post. They’re both so special they each deserve their own post.

It’s the last full week of August and I’ve got Fall on the brain. When you see the colors popping up, I think you will see what a raging case of ‘Fall Fever’ I have going on – I’m obsessed with the golds, browns, rusts, reds and greens of Fall. Of course there will also be a hefty dose of grey, purples, plums, magenta’s, pink, blues and more. Hope to see you there!

Just like clockwork, every Wednesday, around 3:30ish in the afternoon I make a quick get-away and head to the farmer’s market. How I love that place. Only there, in a small-town farmer’s market, can I find old friends of my grandparent’s (the Riverview Drive grandparent’s) and hear “You’re one of the Kooistra girls aren’t you! How have you been honey!?” Puts a smile on my face just thinking about it. Almost, but not quite, like a little visit from with grandma and grandpa. I miss them.

Anyway, what’s not to love about a fist full of flowers, some plump berries and fresh spinach and feta bread (and peanut butter cookies for Shelbie). Oh, and Sam loves the fresh dog treats I bring him. It’s a highlight of the week for all of us.

Speaking of Sam, the little pistol thinks the new coffee table rug is for him. Guess I can see how he’d be confused, I mean it goes so well with his coloring.

Plucky Merino SW Worsted – Sassy Sangria

Another Wandering The Moor. Shelbs has absconded with the other one. I totally saw that one coming. Speaking of Shelbie…. look who has her very own etsy site!

And, if you’d love to be entertained… do check out her flickr stream as well. I may be biased, but there are some fantastically artsy photos to be seen. Enjoy!

With alarming frequency…… but, more often than not, we’re able to get it get it back on the straight and narrow. However, there are times when we just can’t bear to face another tangled skein and, well, some of you live to untangle yarn and I live to serve!
Writer’s Block has me by the throat.

A power surge that come this close to burning your house down and fries all your electronics (yes they were all plugged into surge protectors) really bites. The fact that insurance covers it and the fact that we will get new items doesn’t really make it any better. Bit of a pain to put it mildly.

Contests. Let’s have one!

Spring Fever. We’ve got it bad, how about you?

Knitting. I’ve got an extreme case of ‘I want to cast-on for a sweater (see above yarn) but I cannot, for the life of me, decide which one!’

Crochet. Yes, let’s. I ask you, how cute is this?

How do you make the perfect hard boiled egg? You know, done all the way through and the shell comes off perfectly! It should be the most basic thing ever, but I always have a problem with a sticky shell.

So, speaking of contests, I want to know what you’re knitting/crocheting this spring. What are you just dying to cast on/finish? Or, are you searching for ideas as well? Go ahead comment away. I’ve got a pretty snazzy prize for the winner picked out. How does a sweater quantity (maximum of 8 skeins) of worsted weight yarn sound? I’ll keep comments open until Tuesday, March 30 at 12:00 p.m. Eastern and draw a name.

2010 already. Seriously? Huh? Excuse me while I wrap my brain around that…..In the meantime let’s have a contest. Now doesn’t that sound like a festive way to start off a new week, month and year?

With a little help from a friend (ok, a lot of help) my studio was cleaned and I can now see the top of my desk! Dare I say, it’s actually cute and I’m amazed at what has been unearthed. Which has me wondering:

What’s on your desk (night stand, end table, coffee table)? What’s the funniest/oddest/coolest thing you’ve found there? What would you like to have on your desk?

Contest will be open until Thursday, January 7th at 12:00 a.m. Eastern. What spoils await the winner(s)? Yarn, of course. New year, new yarn bases!!! But, that’s all I’m going to say for now…..

ChrisJ said~Until now it has always been my handknit socks. I just finished the Boneyard shawl in your 6 ply cashmere and that is now my new favorite. I am actually wishing for cooler weather so that I can wear it all the time.

Jana can’t imagine never having knit~Mine would have to be the Koolhaas hat. I can’t even count how many I have made. I think everyone should have one!

And, because I felt like it, I drew an extra name~

Julie says ~ I looked in the cold weather closet, and I have to say — scarves are my go-to item. I have a TON of them from my years of knitting, and people also give me scarves because they know I appreciate pretty knits.

So ladies – if you could please leave me a message with your email so that I can get your mailing information I’ll be sure to get your prize mailed to you.

Thank for playing along!
