Recently I spoke about my apprehension and then conversion to the ever humble and lovely shawl/shawlette. Of course, you still won’t ever see me wearing it the old fashioned way (fantastic for others, just not my cuppa tea) but you will see me with them bunched up around my neck or haphazardly about my shoulders. They’re just so much more interesting a knit than a regular scarf and something special about they way the huge the neck/shoulder area.
Now, the latest addition to the shawlbutnotwornasashawl aresenal:
- The Boneyard Shawl
- Plucky Knitter 6ply Cashmere
- Raveled.

The past week and this next week promise to be a crazy one. Plucky Classics will be shipping out in waves starting tomorrow, Monday, September 28th through Wednesday the 30th and also on Tuesday and Wednesday will be last minute preparations for my trip to Seattle. Wait? What? Didn’t I tell you? Oh, this is exciting….. if you are in the Seattle area on Sunday, October 4th, there will be a Plucky Knitter Trunk Show at Churchmouse Yarns & Teas from 12:00 to 5:00. The wonderful ladies at Churchmouse and I would love to see you! There will be cashmere as far as the eye can see! And, of course, other fun yarns too. But, you know, we are coming into full-on cashmere season!
Then upon my return I’ll have a little yarn related announcement….. stay tuned.

It was bound to happen sooner or later. I knit a box. A colossal gray tweed box. That being said, this is a super cozy sweater, which I love. The fit factor leaves a bit to be desired but that is certainly not the fault of the pattern. At.All. More the fault of me knitting the wrong size and then proceeding to block the ever loving daylights out of it, making it grow even more!
If I knit this again I would knit the smallest size as this yarn grew quite a bit plus I failed to realize the extent of ease written into the pattern or failed take into account my own measurements (DUH). Probably both. Definitely my own dumb fault. But, it’s a great pattern and would definitely make again, just tweak it a bit. Even though this isn’t the most flattering fit, I will wear it a lot. It could NOT be any more cozy.
All that being said, I now have the perfect dog walking, hayride/bonfire attending, kicking around in my pj pants, sweater for this Fall and Winter.
Raveled.

Love the long sleeves.

Pea green enamel pin = my effort to snazz it up a bit.

There seems to be a theme developing here. Apparently I have a thing for pullovers with cozy collars. Enter, Forever Tweed – not to be confused with Francis Revisited, Forever Tweed is knit with a couple inches of ease through the bust/waist with a shorter torso and longer sleeves. This thing is flying, FLYING, off the needles. I only started this on Tuesday evening (as in September 1st!) and am already just 3” from binding off the body. Then the sleeves and that’s it. Hope to be done this weekend.
I’m thrilled with this. It’s like a dressy sweatshirt. What could be better this fall over a button down with jeans and boots? Nothing I say, nothing.

Forever Tweed – Knitscene, Spring 2009

Rest of the details.
