We have winners – Winners I say!

Pictures of Elmer’s Flatbed to come…

What a well-read bunch you are! Numbers have been entered into the random generator and we have two winners!!!:

ikkinlala says:

I just started reading Rare Earth: Why Complex Life Is Uncommon in the Universe. It’s due back at the library on Monday, so I’ll have to get through it this weekend if I’m going to.

I haven’t been cooking very much for the past week or so because I’ve been working and there are other people at home to cook, but I did make granola the other evening.

It’s been cool here, so I’ve been drinking a lot of tea.

and

Leigh Ann says:

As of late, I have been making a lot of galettes (see here) – the base recipe is great, but you can also fill it with a variety of other things (like mushrooms!).

I just finished the end of the Night Watch series by Sergei Lukyanenko– I quite enjoyed the ending of the series, but was a little dissatisfied with the ending due to my own personal attachment to a particular character.

For those above talking about Tudor-related works, I highly recommend Allison Weir– she’s done a couple works of fiction recently, but I got started reading her Tudor biographies a long while ago, and they’re really engrossing.

If you ladies would be so kind as to contact me at dimsarah at yahoo dot com I’ll get your information so as to get you your contest prize. Thanks to everyone for playing along, it’s always great fun to see what everyone is enjoying. In fact, do yourself a favor (if you haven’t already) go back and read through the comments – there are some fantastic suggestions, even a recipe (that you Jen!) (and/or links) thrown in for good measure.

Happy knitting, crafting, reading, cooking, drinking and well, enjoy the summer!

Wednesday Round-Up~

June 24th, 2009 by Sarah

I’m so loving all your comments/suggestions. If you haven’t read through the comments for the contest you simply must – some fantastic suggestions to be had. Just a reminder that the contest runs through Sunday, June 28th.

Also, I’m quite sure I mentioned this before, but because it’s just so fun and the finished projects are amazing, I wanted to remind you of the Knit-Along we’re having over at the Plucky Group on Ravelry. Not only is it a festive and welcoming group, it’s a wealth of information for all things Plucky Yarn related as well as just about anything you’d ever want to know (book recommendations galore, pattern help, more food recommendations, garden tips, travel… the list goes on)! Won’t you join us?

One more thing, for those of you that have inquired – sign-ups for Plucky Classics will be tomorrow, Thursday, June 25 at Noon Eastern.

What are you reading?~

June 22nd, 2009 by Sarah

Summer time is not only for knitting but hanging out with family and good friends, cooking and, of course, reading too! With that in mind I found myself drawn to A Homemade Life by Molly Wizenberg, author of the mouth watering blog, Orangette. It’s a darling book of essays and recipes that I found to be  a quick (and very heartwarming) read and chock full of some fabulous recipes. The first ones I’m going to try are the macaroons and her roasted tomatoes.

I’ve never made homemade bread and do not own a bread machine so when I saw this title making its rounds through my contacts on Flickr – I thought that ‘there’s the bread book for me’ and have grand plans to give it a twirl this week. Can you tell where this is going? I feel a contest coming on~

So…. tell me. What are you reading this summer? What are you cooking? Drinking? Inquiring minds want to know! Please leave me a comment – I’ll be taking entries all through this week and drawing two winners from the entries on Sunday, June 28th. The winners will receive a skein of yarn or a copy of the book, A Homemade Life, the choice is yours.

Oh, and August 11th South of Broad byPat Conroy (who happens to be one of my favorite authors and the story is set in one of my favorite spots in the whole world) is released. You know what I’ll be doing that weekend. I can’t wait! It’s been ages since he’s released a new novel and, I’m embarrassed to say, almost as long since I’ve sat down and read a novel (do unabridged audio books count?).

Anyway, I’m rambling….. so, go ahead let me know what you are reading/cooking/drinking/eating and loving this summer. Can’t wait to hear from you!

It’s Wednesday Already ~

June 10th, 2009 by Sarah

Things I’m loving today~

  • A new and much brighter laptop screen(therefore a new laptop). Until we got the new one I had no idea how terribly dim the old screen was.
  • The weather. It’s finally sunny and breezy.
  • The fact that I have buckets of yarn bases in stock, which means little to no scrambling this month. Just lot’s and lot’s of steady dyeing time.
  • Knitting (can you believe it? I sure can’t) on my Melody and Charade socks (yes I started another project. Apparently that’s what I do – as for finishing, well you can be sure I’ll yell it from the rooftops if I actually finish a project).

Few pics from our little road trip last week/weekend.

Plucky Knitter – MCN Sport – Honey Wilkes (on the way home from NY/NJ stuck in traffic)

Last week we had an impromptu flight/road trip home from NY – here S is taking pics (what’s new?) in Grand Central Station.

Times Square

And, of course, cupcakes. Just wish we would have had time to check out Crumbs and Two Little Reds Hens. They come highly recommended. But, with a mere 24 hours to spend in NYC, we were doing good to stumble across Magnolias.
