Schmaples, Schmeaches & Schmoranges ~

July 30th, 2008 by Sarah

Spontaneous visit to Mary.

You know how I feel about bananas – Imagine my delight finding Cherry Republic  feels the same way! If you are in the mood for some cherry tea, salsa or chocolate covered cherries….. do yourself a favor and stop by, or, if that’s not possible, you can order from their website.

Though I’m not so sure about the spitting… an olympic event?

Sassymetrical Lu is finished and drying as I type. If the breeze keeps up I may have a modeled shot to share tomorrow.

Riverside Inn – the best vodka gimlets. Ever. Hanger One Lime and fresh lime juice.

Orange shoes. Come on, you couldn’t resist them either, right? So soft. So light. So fun.

Random bits ~

  • All the  packages from the shop udpate on Thursday night have gone out. Yay!
  • Thank you for all the wonderful comments on  the new colors.
  • Speaking of new colors – hold on to your needles, because the next update is going to have even more snazzy semi-solids and over dyes.
  • Rosa! You won the Tangle contest…… thank you to everyone for playing along. And, remember how I love give aways. I’ll be having more over the next several weeks.
  • I’m a knitting chicken. I have six, count them, six more rows to go on the sleeves of Sassy Lu. It’s been that way for over a week.
  • Have a great weekend!

A Tangle ~

July 23rd, 2008 by Sarah

There will be a  bit of  blog silence for the next several days – but, before I go, this is what I’ll be up to:

  • Finishing up dyeing Plucky Classics today and tomorrow followed by drying and preparing for shipment. (Did you know that it takes me  two solid days to get it all skeined, tagged, packaged and shipped?).
  • Photographing yarn and preparing for a shop update  for this  Saturday, July 26. I will have a brief post here before the udpate.
  • Working on getting the new studio up and running.

Silk Cashmere Lace Weight – totally tangled. If you leave a comment, upon my return I’ll pull a random number and send the tangle to you for some crazy fun untangling!

He gets cheeky when he knows the camera is on him….

Bob and Elmer T. (I only call him Dad, but it’s fun to refer to him as Elmer T.)…. checking out the oven….

If all goes well, I will have an after picture the week of August 3…..

What’s the matter – cat got your tongue?

July 18th, 2008 by Sarah

Things have been quiet around here.  I  assure you, they have been anything but quiet behind the scenes here at Plucky HQ.  Big things in the works. Big.  Here is just a sampling of the exciting things going on, and in no particular order:

  • New dye studio, primitive thought it may be, it’s going to be great.   I’m very excited. Do you know what this means? For starters, this means that I can have a studio that I do not have to dismantle everytime I am finished dyeing. It means that I can dye, uninterrupted by laundry, a hungry husband and child (who try to be  patient, but when I am taking up  the kitchen with wet yarn and they are wanting dinner, they get a little antsy). Also means I will have more room, which means more yarn. And, that’s a good thing, right? More on this later.
  • New base yarns. Some very, very lovely, snazzy and over the top base yarns. I can’t wait to show them to you.
  • Working on getting the first installment of Hitchcock Heroines dyed up and ready to send in the next two weeks.
  • And, in the midst of all these things, I’ve been staying up very, very late the last three nights just to have a little time to knit. Which brings me to:

Sassymetrical Lu – yes, that’s what I’ll call this one. Remember the old Lu – she wasn’t so sassy.

What the verdict so far? So far, I think this Lu and I are going to get on splendidly!

I thought summer was suppose to have a slower pace, you know more relaxing. Hmmmm. Not so much around these parts lately. How about you all – are you having a relaxing summer?

Louie, you spin me round ~

July 14th, 2008 by Sarah

This has been done  forever and I kept forgetting to take pictures. How I love the cowl (as if that comes as a shock to anyone).

  • Pattern: Nova’s Cowl  - This is such a great pattern – will certainly be making more.
  • Yarn: Plucky Knitter Merino Single Ply (yarn held double).
  • Colorway: She’s Got Moxie
  • Needles: Size 9

 Thank you Nova!

One single down, another in the process – then on to my first plying. I feel a handspun cowl coming on…… What I wouldn’t give for an entire day of spinning. Had read many places that it was relaxing, but really, I had no idea how much so. My first attempts at spinning were, as expected, very lumpy, bumpy and crazy (which totally has its place), but I was going for something with a more finished look. I’m getting there, slowly but surely. Baby steps, right?

Where It All Began – Merino Fingering

After – BFL Superwash

Bella Donna – Merino Fingering

Oath – Merino Lace

These and many others have been listed in the shop update this evening.
