Fall Colors & a Pile O’ Cashmere ~

July 28th, 2007 by Sarah

I love Fall. The colors, the smells, the food, the clothes (really love the Fall clothes – sweaters, corduroy, boots….), the crisp evenings. Anyway, without me planning it, it seems a bunch of Fall colors jumped out of my dye pot yesterday.

There is a new cashmere lace weight that I am trying out – oh.man. Is it ever soft and decadent. And, of course, my tried and true 100% merino laceweight and fingering is, as always, available. The 50/50 silk merino laceweight is becoming a hit too. There will be more of that to come in the next couple weeks. But for now, the Lucy in the Sky is all that is in stock.

Pile o’ cashmere…..

These and quite a few others will be making their way to the etsy shop today and tomorrow. Have a great weekend!

Macoco!

Answers to the questions -

perseid.jpg  Perseid Meteor Shower  - Click the link for viewing tips and dates of other meteor showers throughout the year.

mackinac-3.jpg  We who live in the Lower Penninsula of Michigan are referred to as Trolls because we live “under” the Mackinac Bridge.

audrey.jpg  None other than Audrey Hepburn, as Holly Golightly, of course.

driving.jpg  Yep, Jessica Tandy (age 81)  in Driving Miss Daisy. Interestingly, she beat George Burns by just a few months (he was 80 when he won his Oscar for The Sunshine Boys).

Thanks everyone for playing along – it was great fun. In fact, this will become some sort of a regular  occurrence around here.

Don’t Forget & Cute Shoes ~

July 25th, 2007 by Sarah

What fun this trivia contest is becoming – I think this is going to have to become a regular feature here at TPK. Yep. Montly trivia contests. If you haven’t already, please be sure to submit your answers before midnight tomorrow night. All correct answer will be entered to win Plucky Yarn and other Michigan goodies (think cherries, chocolate and other suprises).

report.jpg  Nordstrom  (inexpensive – especially since it’s their  their anniversary sale right now)

Seems like there is a touch of Fall in the air (kind of sad, since it’s only the end of July, but with all the fall patterns coming out and 50 degree nights you can’t help but think Fall). So that has got me thinking about Fall shoes….. How adorable are those wedges? (Yep, I’m still on the wedge kick). They come in black, brown and red. I am determined to get a great pair for Fall ahead of the rush – that way there are no repeats of the Summer shoe angst.

100th Post – Therefore, a Contest!!!

July 23rd, 2007 by Sarah

baby-beret.jpg  Debbie Bliss Pompon Beret (sans  pompon)  - Fini!

Wow – It’s my 100th post already. Sounds like a great occasion to have a contest and give away some goodies.

You may or may not know this about me, but I LOVE trivia. Love it. If the information is useless and random… all the better. So, I am going to ask you a few questions and you answer them, ok?

The contest will be open until Midnight, Thursday evening. I will take all the correct entries and enter them into the “random number generator” and pull a winner.

What will you win? A skein of Plucky Knitter yarn dyed in either your blogs colors or a colorway of your choice along with some other yummy (emphasis on yum) goodies – and, the treats will all have a Michigan theme – cause, well, that’s where I’m from.

comet-liner.jpg

Quiz Time:

  1. Comet Swift-Tuttle is associated with what annual meteor shower? (This question is not so useless, but timely).
  2. Why  are residents of the Lower-Penninsula of Michigan called “Trolls“?
  3. What  iconic character said “Personally, I think it’d be tacky to wear diamonds before I’m 40“?
  4. Who was the  oldest winner of an acting Oscar? Extra credit if you can name the movie.

tpk-hq.jpg  Little something else I’ve been working on. The HQ of The Plucky Knitter. Not quite done yet (still wanting a fun cork/bulletin board and some shelves and a different lamp…. all in due time). At some point I will post a “truth in advertising” photo of the mess that is my dyeing area.

P.S. Just posted a few more random skeins – and don’t forget there is a sale on all BFL/Alpaca blends – a closeout!

P.P.S – ****Edited to add***** Keep the comments coming – I will post them all after the midnight Thursday close of the contest. If I posted them now…. well, you could read them!

BFL/Alpaca Close Out ~Yep, A ***SALE****

July 23rd, 2007 by Sarah

I have decided that I am closing out of the BFL/Alpaca yarn – it’s lovely, but it is very hard to get this particular type so I won’t be ordering it again. Therefore, I am making room in the “warehouse” (also known as  my closet) for new base yarn that is arrving during the next couple weeks.

If you are so inclined, please head over to the etsy shop for a sale on the BFL/Alpaca blend.

A girl can dream and completely random Monday ~

July 23rd, 2007 by Sarah

Have you seen some of the preview for the Fall 2007 Interweave? Pictures are starting to pop up and I am very intrigued and wanting to knit them all (I can dream, can’t I?):

minimalist-cardigan.jpg  Minimalist Cardigan – Simple and lovely (although I do wonder what the front looks like). For some reason a cardigan doesn’t intimiated me as much as a pull-over does.

placed-cable-aran.jpg  Placed Cable Aran – I would love to make this, but I am very intimidated. Will it fit? Will I get bored with it (not likely as it looks rather interesting)? Will I have time? How do you decide if it is worth the time and monetary investment? Do you just jump and start knitting and hope for the best?

honeycomb-socks.jpg  Honeycomb Socks – These will be knit – just the type of run about the house socks that I love.

composed-mitts.jpg  Composed Mitts – Just admiring how pretty they are.

Time flies – this week I will be making my 100th post. I think this calls for a contest, don’t you? So, there you have it. A contest this week. Check back for details.

sam-rough-edited.jpg  And, just becauce it’s been a while since I’ve posted a pic of Sam.  What a face….
