Early Eye Candy Friday ~

June 28th, 2007 by Sarah

I don’t think I need to even tell you who took these pictures – let’s just say that unless I inform you otherwise, all Eye Candy pictures are provided by Plucky Girl. (Near the end of July I should  be sharing some really fun eye candy with you. She’s taking a photography class at the local Art Institute… can’t wait to see what she comes up with there).

latch.jpg  I have no idea where this is from, it just caught her eye.

bouy.jpg  A little something she found combing the beach  - One of the Great Lakes

shelbs.jpg  Just because this cracks me up –  Plucky girl  ”playing dress up” taking a self-portrait (and, yes, she is wearing a wig)…. (Oh, and you can’t tell in this pic, obviously, but the dress is chocolate brown lace over turquoise   – so retro and fun!)

The blog will probably be a smidge quiet the next few days (out of town for a couple days) and working on kicky new colorways to bring to you lovelies. If something interesting happens I will be sure to share and, of course,  I will be checking in on all of you to see what neat things you are up to!

Have a great weekend and be safe.

Small Etsy Update ~

pistaschio-pudding.jpg  Pistachio Pudding – 100% merino fingering

lace.jpg  Lace – Name TBD – 100% merino (dark silver grey and lovely heathered blue)

peony-pink-2.jpg  Peony Lace- 100% merino lace weight

lilly-p.jpg  Jordan Almonds  - 100% merino fingering

elinor-dashwood-socks.jpg  Elinor Dashwood Socks – 100% merino fingering – I love this one! Just a touch of the palest yellow mixed with the grey flannel and pistachio green. Lovely!

a-touch-of-the-blues.jpg  A Touch of the Blues – 100% merino fingering – The name may sound a touch melancholy, but I assure you they are not, just a lovely blend of some of my favorite blues. Aqua, sky, chambray and a  pale  creamy blue.

I’ve been working on making sure that I am capturing the “real” colors and tones  in the yarn – So far, I think these are the most accurate pictures taken (got to love the natural light at dusk – can’t beat it!).

There will be lot’s more on etsy over the next two weeks. And, also in the works, the  a new line of fall colorways (thanks to all of your fabulous recommendations last week!).

A Fish Eye View ~

June 25th, 2007 by Sarah

If you won yarn from my contest last week, it is on its way to you. And, if you ordered yarn from me, it too is on its way. Thank you for your patience. The re-entry is always a killer when you have been out of town for a bit, don’t you think?

As far as the yarn dyeing venture – It’s going very well.  To say I eat, sleep and breathe yarn and colorways right now would be an understatement. All I want to do is stand over my dye pot…….

This week and up through the 4th of July I will be dyeing up a storm. Lace weight,  fingering and a few random worsted weights thrown in.  Should your heart desire any custom colorways, please let me know. As things progress, I would like to start dyeing more varieties of yarn weights, and blends (something for that special sweater, baby blanket, heirloom lace shawl, etc……).

If you have anything in mind, please let me know. We (ok, it’s really just me) here at The Plucky Knitter aim to please!

A Little Bit of Everything ~

June 24th, 2007 by Sarah

Phew! What a weekend…..

wedding-tim-lynsey.jpg  It’s official – I feel older than dirt.   The little fella I used to babysit got married Saturday. Aren’t they a lovely couple?

wedding-ben-whit-sarah-bob.jpg  Best Man (yep, use to babysit him too) and his lovely wife, W (Isn’t W’s dress just too cute?). Mr. Plucky cleans up pretty nicely too, doesn’t he?

wedding-tom-mary.jpg  What a fine looking couple – Mom and Dad of the groom

wedding-favors.jpg  Party favor (me playing with my macro setting)

wedding-hydrangea.jpg  Hydrangeas at that tables

wedding-feet.jpg  B’s (sister of  the groom and seersucker cutie pie’s mama)  & and my feet – best pic I took all weekend.

wedding-028.jpg  Don’t you just love a little guy in seersucker?

wedding-tom.jpg  Like Grandfather, Like Grandson…

wedding-mary-kiddies.jpg  Aren’t they cute?

wedding-b-a.jpg  I’m telling you, that family is just full of smashing couples….. (little seersucker fella’s mama and daddy).

antoinette-083.jpg  We snuck in a bit of siteseeing – Blue Ridge Parkway  (just outside Blowing Rock, NC)  - very windy that day.

baby-sock-yarntini-vintage.jpg  And, with all that driving time, I also managed to get just a smidge of knitting done – Steph’s Newborn Baby Socks  pattern. (You’d think I’d have gotten  a lot  more knitting  done, would have too, but for the peskiness that is motion sickness). These socks are a super speedy knit – as in a pair in an hour-ish kind of knit. Sportweight Yarntini Vintage stripe, size three circular needles.

We have a winner!!!

June 18th, 2007 by Sarah

Congratulations Jodi  (A Caffeintated Yarn)    You were my 500th comment!

Thank you so much, everyone, for your in-put. It is so fun to read what appeals to everyone. You have given me  so much  food for thought. Over the next couple weeks I will be working on more colorways  in both lace weight and fingering.

Also, please note that I am thrilled to take custom orders.

As always, check back often – I love to have contests!!!

P.S. Sam thanks everyone for their nice comments.
