Hitchin’ A Ride -

June 1st, 2008 by Sarah

Is it yarn? Honestly, I’m not sure. I’ll find out this week when I go to my very first spinning class. Going to stop while I’m ahead as I don’t want to ruin all my roving…..

Anyone up for a Plucky Knitter KAL? I sure am! Starting June 1 (hey, that’s today already!!!!) it will be all about Plucky Cowls - you know, it’s been all about the cowl ’round these parts - so let’s knit some together!

Here are the details:

KAL timeframe: June 1 - July 31.
KAL Type: Cowls
Yarns: You can use ANY of The Plucky Knitter Base Yarns….you can use existing yarns from your stash or brand new yarns you purchase from her for the KAL

Prizes: I’ll be giving away one skein of yarn per prize category plus an extra goody in each package to the winner(s) that will be chosen at the end of the KAL

There will be a thread in Ravelry entitled Plucky Cowl KAL that will be stickied for you to post links/pics of your completed cowls. You must post to this thread with your completed pics/links to pics in order to qualify for a prize.**

Prizes will be given away for the following categories:

After July 31st there will be some judging and some name drawing and the winners will be posted here along with your fabulous prize.

Need some help coming up with patterns?

Edited to add: Sorry about that. Apparently the links were working. Should be all better now.

Please feel free to share with the group what projects you are going to make so we can keep a running list and update your progress on the photo thread. Really can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with!

Tomorrow I’ll show you what cowl I’m working on and another little project. Oh, and, shop update later this evening - 9:00 p.m. EST.

Megsy - Merino Superwash Fingering

Lil’ Miss - BFL Superwash

One more thing…. this is a big week here at Plucky HQ. Anyone venture a guess as to what the fuss is all about? Besides, of course, the actual knitting content as of late and the beginning spinning.

Project Spectrum, Eye Candy Friday & Things I Love ~

August 3rd, 2007 by Sarah

things-i-love-use.jpg

Not sure if this qualifies for Eye Candy Friday, Project Spectrum or just a random post. Let’s say it’s all three - shall we?

Project Spectrum - Generally I am not a fan of purple (as in purple to wear) however, I do like purple accents on various things and I think it is a brilliant accompaniment to all the rich Fall colors that I am so fond of. The purple beads pictured belong to Plucky girl (she is patiently waiting for me to fix the clasp for her, but in the meantime they reside in my Bauer fan bowl. Which just happens to be the happiest of oranges).

The boots? Well, let’s just say I will wear these boots until they can no longer be re-soled and they fall off my feet. Not only are they the best color, they are comfy and go with everything (at least I make them go with everything) and they have sentimental value - a gift from Mr. Plucky. Got to love Kenneth Cole. This Fall will be their third season and they are just getting broken in. I love them.

It’s harvest time in the Plucky container gardens - the yellow tomatoes are on. These, however, look a bit more orange to me (must have been left the on the vine a tad too long). Looking forward to having these sliced for lunch today.

It is absured how happy this new creamer has made me today. Caramel - Love. Hazelnut - Love. Together = Coffee Bliss.

Well, off to the dye pot to dye some yarns to go with Project Spectrum - Thank you, Lolly, for the inspiration.

Eye Candy Friday, Project Spectrum and a sock named Rosie ~

In knitting news, I started knitting my Rosie yarn into this pattern from Sandra. Great pattern Sandra! And, it looks like I am going to have company knitting these - wannabe and I are going to make sure we finish these socks - both of them! Anyone else want to join in? (updated: I have completed a few inches of the leg of the sock - what a fun herringbone pattern……)

Now for the next ”big” project. This has caught my eye - the Rectangle Shawl  from Blue Sky Alpacas, knit in the suggested yarn, in the colorway Peapod. What do you guys think? Seems like a good next lace project and not too frilly. After much discussion with the snob a few weeks ago we both ordered the Peapod, then I talked with wannabe (she was having some clapotis angst) and she liked the idea too, so it looks as though we are having a little BSA knitalong - how fun is that? From the UK to the American West with a stop in the middle. What fun!

And, of course, in between all of this, finding time to dye, blog and knit more baby hats.

Mr. Plucky and I took a trip to Charleston, SC (my very favorite walking city - the architecture, the restaurants and last, but completely not least, the history) and these were some of the lovely flowers we passed on our walks up and down Meeting Street. And, blog posting bonus, they are project spectrum colors too.
