Sam & Moon Unit ~

June 29th, 2008 by Sarah

So many of you have asked how Sam and Moon Unit were responding to each other. Swimmingly. Just swimmingly. As you may or may not be aware, Boston’s are extremely obsessed, like over the top obsessed with licking. Anything. Now, Sam has a very willing recipient to his advances. Moon Unit has become his baby. They play. Oh boy do they play. You should see the acrobatics this kitten is capable of. Then, when they are completely whipped, off to the couch for a little spit bath, snuggle and a nap.

Ahhhh - life’s good for those two.

Now for some Plucky housekeeping this week…..

  • Plucky Classics (and TWO, count ‘em TWO, goodies) will be handed off to the mailman. This will be the last of the Jane Austen inspired colorways. Next up - Hitchcock Heroines. That will be shipped at the end of July…. along with a surprise.
  • All Canadian shipments will be going out with tracking - for some reason they were slow as could be this past month. Just doing my part to keep people from cursing out their local post office…..
  • Shop update tomorrow (below you will find just a taste of what will be offered in tomorrows sale), Monday, June 30 at 12:00 noon EST. (Lot’s of merino lace, MCN fingering, Merino Bulky, Merino Fingering Superwash and, yes, Summer of Love in MCN fingering and Merino Fingering Superwash).
  • Last, but certainly not least. A great big thank you to everyone for the wonderful feedback, good wishes, and well, love for Plucky stuff. I can’t thank you enough!!! As always, if there is anything at all I can do for you, just ask.

Find A Penny - Merino Lace

Mystique - MCN Fingering

Gaslight - Merino Lace

Wuthering Heights - Merino Lace

Roaring Twenties - Merino Fingering Superwash

Crippen - MCN Fingering

Sign Ups Are Open!

June 19th, 2008 by Sarah

Here you go!

P.S. If you are already signed up for Plucky Classics, there is no need to renew. Paypal will automatically renew for you.

And, to mix things up a bit, this three month rotation will feature not only the very popular MCN fingering weight yarn, but also a skein of the lovely, soft and shimmery cashmere/silk lace weight yarn. You just can’t get more decadent than a cashmere cowl or scarf or mitts or…….. (fill in the blank).

You Pick It, You Knit It~

June 12th, 2008 by Sarah

First full skein of handspun.

I’ve now knit five sweaters. Four adult (the first of which was significantly too large, the second one landed in Plucky Girls hands and the third, well, there was a raglan issue, the fourth, the bind off was too tight - I’ll eventually get around to fixing that) and two baby sweaters. While following a pattern doesn’t intimidate me in the slightest (really, it’s just like reading a map) it’s the whole…. what size do I make?  Is that really my gauge? Let me measure for the 10,000th time….

Which brings me to - my LYS has a class on Friday mornings called You Pick It, You Knit It. Sounds pretty perfect for the gun shy sweater knitter. I just need someone to point me in the right direction. And, because I’ve been so obsessed with knitting a wearable sweater, I have quite a Q built up. Help me narrow it down, pretty please?

Should I knit:

Or, am I totally missing a great pattern that I should be knitting? Suggestions? Recommendations?

On another note, I will be opening up a few spots in Plucky Classics for the next three month round. The spots will open in the next couple days. I will give a heads up before posting.

Paypal Issue ~

May 23rd, 2008 by Sarah

All figured out….. super kudos to Amanda! Being the information and organization queen that she is has solved the paypal address problem. Apparently, the automatic default when you go in to your subscription is no payment address required.

If each person could go into their subscription (which you can get to by logging in to your paypal account, viewing your history and bringing up the last payment made to me for Plucky Classics and then it will bring up all the subscription details). At the very bottom it lists subscription address….and gives two preferences….ship to - which has the address linked to the paypal on file - and no shipping address required. All you need do is hit the button to the ship to and update info. Then it’s done and I will be able to now get everyone’s address.

Thank you in advance for your attention to this. If you would be so kind as to make the update as soon as possible it will make this months shipment go soooo much easier!

Houston, we have a problem ~

April 24th, 2008 by Sarah

First, the bad news - I’m sooooo miffed at Paypal right now. The Paypal subscription service is not providing mailing addresses for the Plucky Classics subscribers, which means that I must email each person and ask them to provide me their address. But, what’s even more disturning is that I do not have the ability to just print shipping labels directly from Paypal. Eventually, I will figure out why this occurred and how to fix it going forward. But, for the time being, I am sufficiently annoyed. **Edited to add: If anyone out there knows how to fix this issue, I’d love to hear any suggestions.**

Now for the good news. You guessed it - this means I am getting ready to ship the first installment of the Plucky Classics Club. Good night I am nervous!!! The first installment, of course, includes an exclusive colorway based on a Jane Austen classic, along with another little surprise. And, I’ve already begun working on May’s colorway and collaborating with a wonderful designer to bring you an exclusive pattern that will be included in that mailing too - I really think you will like it! It’s a ton of fun putting together this club - thank you so much for joining me!

There has been a shop update in my etsy shop. I’m thinking about reserving the shop here on my site for special offerings and club memberships and continuing to use the etsy shop for weekly updates. What do you think? Do you have a preference? Oh. And don’t forget, I’m now thrilled to offer free shipping on all U.S. orders over $50 and all International orders over $80.

Thank you so much for playing along with the naming of the base yarn contest. I will announce the winner later this weekend. But, first, off to send some emails….lots and lots of emails.
