He had me at first spin ~
By Sarah | June 5, 2008

I’m as surprised as you are. Really thought I would work on the spindle for a while – truly I did. Meet Louie (you know I’ve named pusrses, what wouldn’t I name my wheel? Now I just have to decide what color to paint him…).

First yarn (everything from uber cobweb weight to practically a broomstick size - ought to make for a pretty funky something or other). Merino superwash roving from Vesper. I’ve already ordered roving from Gherkin - no way I’m going to run out of fiber. Got to keep the wheel spinning.
Don’t forget to enter the anniversary contest from yesterday. What a treat it is to read everyone’s comments – you guys have been busy!

So pretty! You are doing very well! How fun! I wish you lived closer…I’d invite myself over to spin with you!
Congrats on Louie! My wheels are “Lil Vicki” and “stipulation”. I’ll have to explain the “stipulation” sometime.
Have fun!

Love the wheel! And the spinning is looking good!

Your yarn looks loverly. I have not ventured past my first ham fisted hand spun. Thankfully I only plunked down cabbage for a drop spindle. Your wheel is magnificent. You know what’s next don’t you? How does Mr. Plucky feel about goats, sheep and alpaca grazing by the lake?

Why hello there Louie! My “Gigi” thinks he’s cute!
Congratulations! Have fun with that new toy!

Congrats! You should paint his name and port of harbor on the side, then break a bottle of wine on him.
Or don’t. Sorry, I’ve been reading a lot of Hemingway. He’s a beaut!

Aw, I really want to join you in the world of the wheel! Enjoy it!

Wow, how exciting! I’m really afraid to try spinning (although I’ve promised myself to try a hand spindle this year). I think I would probably lose any remaining purchasing control if I started adding roving to the buying universe! But I do love handspun yarn…. I
have just been telling myself that I must draw the line somewhere – being a full-time-work-outside-the-home mom and trying to fit just knitting into a busy schedule!
