Inquiring minds want to know ~

Another  cowl.

  • Size 15 (10 mm) needles
  • Fingering weight yarn  (held double). This yarn in the lovely Alice from Dee.
  • Cast on 72 sts *k1, yo,  k2tog*    until you just can’t stand it anymore…. makes long loop that you wrap around your neck twice. Light, cozy and lovely. Took all of 2.5 hours. Instant gratification.

I really have to find another way to take pics….

I’m torn. Wondering if the sweater needs another decrease at the waist. I’m a tad concerned about the stretch potential of the 100% cotton yarn. While we’re at it…. another question. The sleeves – I’m thinking just a couple rows of 2 x 2 ribbing  - which would end up matching the bottom hem. Keep it consistent?

As long as you’re answering all these questions:

Fun poll feature. It’s nice to see your smiling face. Your picture method is fine.

i love your new sweater! i don’t think another decrease is necessary, but i’m not the one wearing it!

My knitting hasn’t reached the sweater stage yet, and I don’t feel at all qualified to help you out there.

I did want to say how much I love the cowl, though. It looks much better on you than the last one you were displeased with, and I appreciate your sharing the pattern. I have some fingering alpaca in my stash that I’ve been wanting to do something with and couldn’t make up my mind. Now I have! :-)

I am so glad you put up the pattern for that cowl. I loved it when you wore one the day we met for coffee, and I keep forgetting to ask. I’ll be using my Plucky yarn to knit one up for sure!

Oh, semi-solid please! :)

And that neckwarmer is perfect for my new custom-dyed yarn… Thank you. x

Love the cowl – perfect for this time of year. For the sweater, I was going to say it looks perfect now, but then you mentioned the cotton stretch factor, so maybe one more decrease would be better (but what do I know – LOL).

Where is Mr. Plucky? He can help you take your pictures. Cute sweater too!!

I’ve knit with that Blue Sky cotton before and it definitely expanded a bit on me, so you’re probably good with adding another decrease. My only other advice would be to go down a needle size for your ribbing. I wish I had done that on my cardigan; the ribbing didn’t quite have the elasticity that wool does, so it looks a little sloppy to me.

I voted semi-solid…but you knew that. ;)

LOVE LOVE LOVE the cowl and the sweater.
I’m sure that bad boy will stretch so I would go down a needle size for ribbing and do another decrease.

i agree with wanna…cotton isnt known for it’s amazing bounce-back ability, so an extra decrease and a good tight ribbing will be your friend here. i might even make it a round or two shorter than “ideal” because the length may grow by the end of a wear…

but, you know, with ALL my sweater knowledge…(hee hee!) take what i say with a grain of salt. ;-)

and my vote for the yarn is anything that’s squishy and lovely. i love all kinds of colorways…theres a pattern for everything, so theres room in my stash for everything, hee!

The cowl is gorgeous (the yarn color is fabulous, looks great on you!)! I am such a loser, I have no opinions on sweater stuff – I have only knit one – doh!:)
