“Lu, I had such high hopes for us….” ~

Pretty, no?

Ugly? Yes. Too short and too wide. What do you think? Would Lu benefit from a good thrashing, I mean, another blocking? Suggestions are, most assuredly, welcome.

Pattern: Lu by Perl Gray. Details on Ravelry.

Maybe I like it this way the best. Or, perhaps I’d just like it on someone other than me.

aww, i think it’s cute! and boy does it look soft!

I actually think it looks really beautiful –tho I see how it could be awkward to wear something so short –it totally works as a scarf too!

What if you used 2 pins to hold up the overlapping fronts? (ie: one pin for each front). I like the yarn, the stitch pattern, the boatneck…

clarabelle on April 1, 2008 at 2:52 pm.

Hmm, not sure why it won’t block more top to bottom… you could try getting it pretty wet and leaving it to dry on a hanger? Having said that, it really does look cute as a scarf/cravat!

Hhhmmm, I think it looks pretty good, but I might give it another good blocking. I live with the belief that blocking can fix anything!! I love the color and I think the pin looks perfect on it. Yeah, I’d tried the stretch the front piece a bit longer and it would be absolutely perfect!!

Did you get row gauge? What the heck? It looks a LOT longer on the kit page. Hmmm….I would block again from top to bottom and that should help with the width. I think because you are tall you need more length…though it looks HOT as a scarf. LOVE the pin. ;)

I almost bought the kit for that just last week! I tried the sample on and it was a funky fit! Needless to say I didn’t buy it.

I’d try blocking it again!!

Hmmm, I think I like the scarf look best! I haven’t seen it on Ravelry so don’t know what size it’s supposed to be.

waaaaa…how frustrating! I do like it best as a neckwarmer – doh! The colorway is gorgeous though!

Amanda on April 1, 2008 at 7:51 pm.

You can make any cowl look beautiful – wear it like that!

krysten on April 1, 2008 at 7:59 pm.

first of all, that pin is SO cute!!

now about this sweater wrap…i would try blocking again, but otherwise i would frog and retry. there’s no way i’d keep it as is and just wear it around my neck. and not because i dont think the color and stitch pattern are divine, but i just would not be able to live with knowing that it is really supposed to be worn another way. that’s just me, and i’m really anal about stuff like that.

with an open stitch like that, it seems that it should be pretty easy to coerce it into whatever shape you’d like though! good luck!!

Sarah I had the same problem with mine. I knit two of these and they both ended up having the same problem. I tried blocking them repeatedly and it still did not produce the result I wanted. I LOVE IT as a scarf though.

Shannon on April 1, 2008 at 8:45 pm.

Sorry I’m no help as far as how to fix it. However, it is beautiful regardless, so if blocking doesn’t work you could: 1.give it to someone or 2. keep as a scarf.

sharon on April 1, 2008 at 9:20 pm.

it would look really cute on a teeny bopper or it looks fabulous as a scarf/neckwarmer.
love the pin, the yarn and the stitch definition.

Renna on April 1, 2008 at 9:51 pm.

I like it around your neck. I can see it dressing up a simple black or white sweater/pullover. The color looks great on you!

yarnsnob on April 2, 2008 at 3:35 pm.

too cute :) looks just a little big but im sure blocking will do the trick

mfrey on April 2, 2008 at 6:54 pm.

yep, neckwarmer gets the vote.
but the pin, oh how i love the pin, it just screams charleston,
s.c.and plucky.

oh, i think it super cute! i do know that feeling of not feeling comfortable in something, even when other people like it.

it does look really cute as a neckwarmer too.

Regina on April 3, 2008 at 8:43 pm.

I think it looks great as a scarf. That pin makes it look great either way. I hope blocking will do the trick.

Knitterella on April 4, 2008 at 4:31 pm.

oh bummer… but It does look cute as a scarf and the pin rocks!

Nora on April 12, 2008 at 8:00 pm.

I love it both ways but I especially love the chunky scarf and brooch idea. Be warned, you may see something similar on my blog in the next few days. :) Thank you for the inspiration.
