I have big feet ~
By Sarah | March 9, 2008
Size 10 big.
Colinette Jitterbug is very nice yarn, but the yardage can be little scarry for us gals with big feet. I had grand ideas of making No Purl Monkeys but was afraid of the yardage issues. What does a knitter with questions do? You go searching on Ravelry of course. Found these socks and sent Megan a message to ask her about the yarn and how it worked for her, sharing my concerns about the yardage. She was gracious enough to suggest sending me the leftovers from her socks for a skein of Plucky yarn. Thus, a little swap was born.
She and her Mom make soap. Really, really delicious (smelling – I’ve not done a taste test) soap. So far I’ve only used the Peppermint Winds, but I’m over the moon and this will become a staple in the Plucky bathroom cupboard, for sure.

Speaking of swaps, Carrie – an intrepid new knitter (who also happens to be an out of this world seamstress) and I worked out a little swap. Cashmere lace for some perky pouches. I couldn’t be more thrilled. And, they both match my new purse – bonus.

Up next: “Lu, please don’t do this to me, have I somehow offended you?”

I have been admiring those socks over at Knitting Philistine as well as her “hybrid” Giotto meets Go with the Flow – so tempting – and her soap, yum! What great trades!

You know, I’m glad you posted this – I have big feet too. (Size 10 big) and I’ve wondered the same thing, about yardage, etc. This will help!

I can attest that this is the greatest soap ever made. It’s all I ever use in the shower (and prior to this, I detested bar soap). Enjoy!

I have swapped yarn for goodies with some online pals. It’s so fun!

Someone told me that jitterbug suprised them by how far it went, maybe because it’s reasonably thick for a 4ply. I’ve only done legwarmers though, so it was hard to tell. Also in that colourway, though, it being legwarmers I used all the yarn up, otherwise I’d be happy to add to your collection.
Anyway, top-ups for large feet, surely?

I always get butterflies in my stomach when I’m nearing the end of my second sock and wondering if I’ll make it. For some reason that last bit of yarn always seems to go further than I think it will.
I am going throught the same thing right now knitting my first pair with Plucky yarn.
I am loving the yarn. I think I’ll make it to the end of sock number two. Just to be sure though I am doing a pair of toe-up socks so I can pretty easily pull back a bit of the first one to get a matched pair if need be!

i’m a 10 too, but i think we already exchanged shoes sizes a while back.
i love soapworks. everything i’ve received has been so refreshing. and moisturizing. and you know as a knitter that dry hands are a no-no…
what’s with lu, my dear??

Love your blog. Don’t worry about the feet thing- that’s from someone with a size 11 foot. As my father always told me, you need big feet to hold you up!
