Yep, still here ~

January 30th, 2008 by Sarah

Just cold and having a bear of a time getting Sam to go outside and  ”take care of business.”  Can’t blame him. Have you seen the weather?

The sweater and I have been having a “time-out” – at Ellen and Naomi’s suggestion I will bring it to Madrona so that I have some hand holding while I give it the old college  try, again.

Speaking of Madrona, I’ve been dyeing, but not updating…. stashing things away to take with me. However, I will have a tiny update later this week. And, I’ll have an enormous update and exciting announcements upon my return. How’s that for leaving you hanging?

**Edited to add**

In the past 12 hours I have received this email message three times:

The domain thepluckyknitter.com (plucky) has reached 80% of its bandwidth limit (1608.59/2000.00 Megs).   !! Do not respond to this message. Your reply will go nowhere. !!

Anyone out there care to venture a guess as to what this means? Sounds sort of ominous to me.

My poor sheltie Riley couldn’t go yesterday… we had snow and tornado winds…. there was no chance of balance for #2… poor pup…

Means that you are *too* popular :) or that you have put up too many pictures (ie every picture you put up and people look at uses up some of your bandwidth). You might want to look at the service provider you are using and find out if you can get more bandwidth. Or perhaps post smaller pictures?

Ugh, I hate cold weather. I hope you see some rise in the temps soon. Can’t wait to hear about your big announcement!!! As for the bandwidth problem – sounds like you’ve been getting a lot of traffic to your blog lately. Hopefully it resets for the new month and you’ll be okay. How rude about the Do Not Reply thing – they could use a lesson in customer service!!

they might shut the site down if you go over your bandwidth limit! i think it means that a lot of people are visiting your blog :)

I don’t know what it means, but it certainly does sound ominous!

like most other people have said it has to do with the amount of traffic on your site (but you might want to check that someone isn’t hot-linking to a photo of yours and stealing your bandwidth)

I wouldn’t worry too much as usually you have a monthly allotment (first to last date of the month) and since that is today you should be ok… but check it out with your hosting service to find out what they do when you go over bandwidth (as many either charge HUGE fees or shut down the site until the next cycle)

Brrr… it’s chilly here in Chicago, too.

Guess you’re getting too popular, Sarah! BTW, the tangled cashmere you sent me is now untangled and knitting up into a lovely, heavenly-soft Woodland Scarf. Thanks again! I’ll send pics when I’m done.

Michigan weather. Yuck. And on Tuesday it was about 50 degrees here?! Every winter we contemplate moving to Arizona. Then we remember that all our family lives here, so we stick it out. :)

I think bandwidth has something to do with your internet service provider? It’s probably something you could call and ask them about.

Man, it’s so cold here – my husbands enjoying the ice fishing though, that’s the only good thing!

ooooo exciting announcements – can’t wait to hear!

  14. Nora Says:

I think it has to do with site traffic – or perhaps people are using your bandwidth to link to you, rather than saving buttons etc to their own server. [I'm not sure how the latter works.]

Eeeehhhh, Yippeee! We are getting to the countdown to Madrona! I am SO excited! I have stashed away some green to get more Plucky!

My boys are the same way about certain kinds of weather. If it is really raining hard out they stand in the doorway and look up at me like “uh, I Don’t Think So!” I remind them..”We live IN SEATTLE! Get going!!!”. :)
