What happens when….

By | December 31, 2007

your nature loving hubby, your equally nature loving daughter and 5 year-old nephew go to the pet store without you?

Meet Lillith  (we’ve been on a bit of a Frasier kick around here lately). Yep, not quite sure how I feel about this. Well, I’m ok with  it as long as I am not expected to hold, feed or otherwise interact with her.

Sam’s not sure how he feels about it either.

For Amanda – a picture of socks in the snow. At her suggestion, I joined the Sock A Month KAL - perhaps just the impetus I need to keep my sock production going. Have plans to watch a few movies tonight and tomorrow, which should have me on track to finish this pair the first day or two of January. There – one pair down. Don’t hold your breath, but it could happen.

Well, off to the dye pots….. My self-impossed hiatus is coming to a close. Today the dye pot will be cooking up some DK weight merino cashmere, bulky weight merino cashmere, BFL superwash fingering and merino/cashmere/nylon fingering weight. Phew.

So, look for a shop update perhaps as early as tomorrow.

OMG! All I would be able to think about is it getting out of it’s cage and crawling on me in the middle of the night! AHHHHHH! My face looks like Samson’s right now!

Love the socks. That’s your yarn, right?

And thank you for the snow pic…sniff, sniff.

Annie on December 31, 2007 at 12:34 pm.

I think it is HILARIOUS that the spider’s name is Lillith!

Amanda on December 31, 2007 at 1:07 pm.

I love love love the look on Sam’s face. I’m glad you’re knitting lately!

Diana on December 31, 2007 at 2:27 pm.

AACK! That’s scary! I’d be terrified it would escape and wake me up one morning by crawling on my face. Good luck with the new pet!

cute socks!

Hmm… I think my reaction to the new addition is along the same line as Sam’s!

Sounds like you have some marvelous plans for the dyepot. Happy New Year!

As horribly disgusting that creature is, I’m sure it will be quite interesting to watch it’s life.

But what I really wanted to say (!) is that I am lurking around your store waiting for cashmere! I’m jonesing for a cashmere neckwarmer, and I think I’ve found the yarnmaker!

Hurry!

A tarantula…oh my!

Those martini sock blockers are fabulous! and your socks are looking gorgeous!

Denise on December 31, 2007 at 4:06 pm.

Oh my gosh! as amazing at it looks I could not have a spider like that in my house. Your dogs face is hillarious :) Says it all really.
Happy New Year to you. Hope to read you lots more in the coming year ;-)

I am with you and Sam on that monster!!! Yuk, I’d never sleep again! I love the socks in snow picture.

Shannon on December 31, 2007 at 6:35 pm.

Yes, Lillith IS scary. I didn’t see the socks yesterday, did start them today? Good for you for knitting and taking a hiatus from dying. I know how theraputic knitting is for me.

Guess what I am doing: casting on for that baby kimono in the Mason-Dixon knitting book I borrowed. I’m so excited!! I’ll keep you posted on it’s progress. Enjoy your time off!

Oh now I don’t like it when you post pictures of these creatures cos i scream the whole house down, that’s very naughty but I do love those groovy socks

Marianne on January 1, 2008 at 3:22 am.

Sam is looking exactly as I would:-)
Wishing you a : Gelukkig Nieuwjaar !!!!

Uuummmm, not likely that one of those would end up in my house. I’m not bothered by normal house spiders, but that one would not be welcome! But then again, hubby and I are not the nature fiends that Mr. Plucky or Plucky girl are. The kids…that’s a different story. They’d have on in a minute!

Love the socks.

Kathy on January 1, 2008 at 5:58 pm.

Holy cow! I think my eyes were as big as Sam’s when I first saw Lillith. You are a strong woman, my dear. I think I probably would have run for the hills if that came into my house!

Karen on January 2, 2008 at 5:58 pm.

Eeeeewwww. Spiders are NOT PETS. They are evil things to be squashed (preferably by muscular man).

Love the socks, but not the snow. :)

This made me laugh and smile, and I needed that this morning! Lilith isn’t so bad! I love the pic of Sam – that is priceless! :)

Happy New Year!

I think my reaction is very similar to Sam’s. ;) Good luck with the newest member of the household!

Nicole on January 3, 2008 at 12:28 pm.

Too cool! And very appropriate for those of us in the fiber arts. Now you have someone to teach you weaving.

Sheila on January 3, 2008 at 3:26 pm.

enough with that hairy spider! Quite a comedown after Sam In The Snow.

Mindy on January 3, 2008 at 3:59 pm.

I think sam has the right idea… ack!!!

Naomi on January 4, 2008 at 3:41 pm.

Yikes! Ok, that is one pet I could, and would, pass on.

As others have commented, the photo of Sam….as they say “a picture is worth a thousand words”.

Been looking, looking, looking for updates in the shop! Hope you enjoyed your hiatus!!!!

Nicole on January 5, 2008 at 1:29 am.

I think Lillith is cute, not creepy or disgusting. But that’s a great photo of Sam!
