How you know you’re not firing on all cylinders & Test Knitters Wanted ~

August 29th, 2007 by Sarah

Much to my disgust, I thought I was putting cinnamon in  my  coffee this morning…. instead  this happened:

This        + this    = Not a good thing.

I know the site has been a bit quiet lately…. it seems I’ve had a bit (ok, not a bit, a lot) of a shoulder, neck, rotator cuff issue and it is sapping energy (both physical and creative) big time. But, the good news is, on doctors orders, I have started physical therapy and other rememdies and they seem to be working. And even more good news is that what I thought could be the beginnings of a nasty bout of carpal tunnel is, in fact, related to the neck issue (instead of several physical issues to deal with, now it is just one and all related – what a relief!).

Ok. Enough of that boring stuff…. (just wanted to fill you in on the reasons for lack of knitting and dyeing content). I need help. Big time.

I need some examples of Plucky Yarns all knit up and with the issues I’ve just mentioned, I have not been able to get much knitting done. Would anyone be interested in knitting up something for me? Being a test knitter of sorts? Of course, it goes without saying, that  I would pay you handsomely  - in yarn!!! for your generosity. I  was thinking perhaps knitting a pair of handwarmers  out of some of the merino single yarn, perhaps a neck warmer, socks or even a scarf.

Please let me know if there are any takers……Thank you!

i’d be a test-knitter…but it might take me a long time, if you don’t mind. ;)

  2. Christina Harris Says:

Sure! Considering I’m knitting up your yarn into 3 pairs of socks currently anyway….I’ll knit whatever you like. Let me know.

  3. Meadow Says:

I’m glad the physical therapy is helping, yay.

    I’ll be a test knitter as well :) .

  4. Macoco Says:

Sounds like you already have some takers on your test knitting offer!

Ooh seasoning salt and coffee? Yikes! Although I did now a chef that always added a small pinch of salt to his coffee/espresso because he said it added “depth” to the beverage. But seasoning salt probably added a whole new depth that none of us are ready for!

I’d be happy to test knit something for you! I’ve heard nothing but delicious things about your yard and would love to try some! Just let me know.
So sorry to hear about your neck/shoulder issues! I’m sure the PT will really help….and rest!

  6. Nicole Says:

I’d be happy to help! I’ve been planning to knit up my Bogart Blue for my next pair of socks, actually.

Oh twist twist my arm…yes of course I’d love to help too. I’m a little late to the party though.

Sorry about the Lawry’s coffee this morning. That makes me want to hurl thinking of it though. Maybe you could start a new savory coffee company. ;)

I hope your physical therapy continues to give you some pain relief and avoids dreaded surgery of any kind.

  9. Paula Says:

    I’ll knit for you, too!

Yes, PT is wonderful–those folks KNOW stuff! You’ll be back in fine shape with their help.

  10. Jodi Says:

As long as it’s not a men’s size XXL sweater, I’d be thrilled to do a little test knitting for you!

Hi, if you still need volunteers count me in. Your yarn is so gorgeous! Glad you didn’t have carpal tunnel.

  14. Marianne Says:

Glad to hear you found some test knitters . I’d love to help but I’m not much good on the other side of the pond I’m afraid. Take care with that neck now !

  15. Rachel Says:

I’m definitely in! You name it, I’ll knit it (and I’m fast, too :)

  16. Monica Says:

I would be happy to knit a scarf, neck warmer or hand warmers. I’m not a sock knitter… yet.

Hope you are doing better soon. PT can be fun and it definitely helps!

  17. moiraeknittoo Says:

My coffee lovin’ self winced in horror at the mishap. *mourns for your lost cup* And I would volunteer, but I am the slowest knitter I know. I’m trying to kick start my mojo by knitting garter squares for a baby blanket for goodness sake. If you get desperate, let me know and I’ll do my best, but I have a feeling you’ll have a plethora of volunteers. :)

  18. Annie Says:

HAHAHHAHAHA! One of those days, eh? I’m actually itching to get my little knitterly fingers on some of your worsted weight, but I can’t commit right now. Must…hold back…on yarn…for a couple more days anyway. :-)

  19. Stacey Says:

Funny, I was thinking about knitting Fetching or something like it with Tippi. Sorry to hear about your pain, but know what you mean when you say, “(instead of several physical issues to deal with, now it is just one and all related – what a relief!) Take care of yourself.

About the coffee, ick. My mom sent me a photo of her coffee with bananas floating in it… she missed her cheerios.

  20. Amanda Says:

You don’t even have to ask. Of course I’ll help with whatever you need, my friend. If you send me the stuff soon, I can do it on my vacation that starts next Thurs.

  21. yarnsnob Says:

    I’m a slow knitter :(
I once put salt in my bosses tea as a joke!!

  22. Karen Says:

Eeewww, seasoned salty coffee. No way to start the day!! Blaaaa. I’ll kick my sock into high gear – it was kind of neglected while I was on vacation. But I am past the heel turn and should have the first one finished very soon.

  23. Karen Says:

Oh yes, and I hope the physical therapy has you feeling much better soon. :)

  24. Jenn Says:

    re: Coffee – Yuck.
    Good luck with PT.
If you aren’t already overrun with volunteers, I’d happily be a test knitter.

  25. Octopus Knits Says:

Ouch! It’s good to hear you are improving. If you need another test knitter, I’d be happy to help (I’ve been drooling over your yarns, but haven’t yet bought any).

I can only knit one sock (a serious second sock syndrom but I would be thrilled to knit some lace.

I would love to test knit for you if you are still looking!

  28. Wannabe Says:

Dang! People come out of the woodwork when you offer free yarn!
I’ll have some pics for you soon of the Girls Just Wanna Have Fun fingering knit up in Sandra Park’s Bloody Mary pattern! And I’m hoping to start the nexkwarmer here next week out of the cashmere!

    Love you.

Sarah – two things – I just ordered some fingering yarn from you and referenced the 20% discount you offered, could you please check that for me? Also, I’m making the Forest Canopy Shawl using your Olivia lace colorway, I’ll send a photo when done for you. Thanks!
