In The Wake Of The Storm~

August 24th, 2007 by Sarah

No Electricity.  Which means no internet (currently at Panera Bread enjoying their wifi), no dyeing (so much for the dyeing goal I had for this weekend) and, the most disturbing of all, no hair dryer! Estimated time of re-connection with the outside world….. Sunday evening. So, lot’s of trips to Panera for wifi.

Later, when I can find the camera we’ll have to post “eye candy” of the destruction around the house. Huge trees down everywhere.

But, on the bright side of things….. I will have lots of time to knit and go see this with the Plucky Girl.

Continuing with a look on the brightside of things, this past week I had been suffering from a  somewhat mild, but nonetheless disturbing case of bloggers block. So at least today I have something of interest to  post.

On the knitting front – one down, one to go. Charade #1 is done and I am pretty happy with it. The k1tbl, p1 ribbing is a little more loosey goosey than I would normally like, but that is my fault. Next time I think I will knit the ribbing on size 1’s and then the body of the sock on 2’s (sounds backwards doesn’t it? Don’t people usually have trouble with the ribbing being too tight and then going down a size on the actual sock portion?).

***Edited to add***

Not to worry though. Come heck or high water (high water being a definite possibility) I will get to the dyeing. So, if you are waiting on a special order from me – I haven’t forgotten you and it will be done!

I was just in the middle of sending you an email inquiring about the weather, saw you’d posted and thought to look first. Sorry about the high water, hope your family, Sam and home are safe and dry. Hopefully it means you’re not too worried if your going to a matinee… how fun. I miss going to movies on weekdays.

Congrats on Charade #1. I too think my ribbing (and whole sock for that matter) would benefit from sizing down a needle when I knit socks.

Enjoy your weekend which will no doubt be filled with knitting, blustery Bronte-like weather and Plucky Girl.

You will LOVE that movie. Email or call me later to tell me what you think.

No worries on my custom order…I’m in no rush! :)

    Mwah.

Glad you’re okay! Go ahead and use the down time for some well-deserved R&R. We’ll be here when you get back!

Oh no!!! No power is NOT good. I hope things are too much of a mess outside your house. Stay safe, enjoy the knitting time, and here’s hoping the power is restored earlier than expected.

Sorry to hear about the destruction and the lack of electricty. I hope they get it back up sooner than expected.

Oh no! I had no idea. I guess I’ve been working too much!

I’m glad you are safe and I understand that hair is important but…you’d be adorable no matter what!

i don’t know how to live without the modern day conviences of today’s high tech society…thank goodness you found wi-fi access

The storm did produce alot of wind with lots of trees down. We finally got electricity back Saturday at 11:00 p.m. So that meant about 52 hours without modern conveniences, which kinda seem like neccesity to us. When did you get electricity back? Want to see that movie also.

  11. Anne Says:

OH dear – I hope things are going better and you at least didn’t sustain too much expensive damage :( Hopefully by now you’re back at home with all the electricity you can handle!

I was wondering how you and your family were making it through all the terrible weather. It’s so good to know you are all safe! Miss you!
