To frog or not to frog? That is the question.

First, let me say that I adore, love and am addicted to this pattern. So much so that I would like to make a hat version and a scarf version. Now, any problems with this sock are the fault of this knitter, not the pattern.

For some reason (probably because of my feeble attempt to translate the pattern from dpn’s to two circs) the heel gusset is a bit wonky – nice decreases on one side and nothing on the other. Am I being too picky or should I start over?

Next up – the Melody Scarf  in Malabrigo lace (if you have not seen the Malabrigo Lace, you must. must. must.). This pattern is miles and miles of stockinette – perfect conversational knitting, much to Mr. Plucky’s relief – he gets a bit tired of me saying “shhhh, I’m counting.”

With all the driving to and waiting at the airport yesterday and a movie or two with my SIL (Hi S!) and the hubby, I have actually made quite a bit more progress than shown in the picture. The color variations in the Malabrigo are just the perfect touch on this simple, simple knit. I can already tell this will be worn – To.Death.

Then, a smidge of dyeing…… chunky cashmere.

being a perfectionist as I am, I’d probaby frog and start again..thats just me tho.

Now I MUST get my hands on some of that Malabrigo lace. Mr Snobs would love me if I knit this as I am the same…shhhh, I’m counting!!!

That cashmere yarn is something Plucks!!! Wicked, just wicked :)

If the way it looks will prevent you from wearing – or if you will think about it everytime you wear, then frog it.

Love the yarn!

maybe it’s just me, but I don’t see much wrong with the sock…I would keep it, plus it would put you closer to a FO. But, then again you’re the one that has to live with it…. Thanks for Saturday, the yummy treats and the even yummier gifts…including beautiful yarn. Also, cannot forget your patience with me as I try to learn a new type of stitch.

Dude. Rip it baby. But only rip to where you started the gusset and figure out how to modify esp if you like how the fit is. No need to rip the whole thing. Seriously though, I know how picky you are…in a good way and you know this will eat you up. There must be a way to make it work. Email Sandra and see if she knows.

I’m totally loving the shawl. Must. Get. Malabrigo. Lace.

And I am dying for that cashmere. Holy cow that is gorgeous.

BTW, I got the Pretty Pirate in the mail yesterday. Perfect time since I went to see Pirates 3 today. LOL! Arrr.

How about this? Switch to DPNs to do the decreases only and then put your stitches back on circs to knit the foot?

Is that the same sock pattern that Wannabe is working on? Because if so, it IS an awesome pattern.

If my husband wasn’t so sweaty all the time, I’d knit us a set of sheets out of Malabrigo Laceweight. Yeah, it’d cost about $500, but totally worth it.

i’m sorry that gusset is giving you sooo much trouble!

after doing some googling, i came across this pattern from knitty. . .

http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter02/PATTstraightlaced.html

it’s a pattern written out for two circ knitting. perhaps you can compare the instructions from my pattern to this one and see if it gives you a better understanding on how to knit the gusset? :/

either way, your sock looks nice. if it doesn’t work out for you and you have to frog, it’ll probably be all for the better. no reason to wear around socks you’re not completely happy with. :)

Sorry to hear about the sock. Personally, if it was me, I’d rip it back and fix the gusset, but I’m picky about things like that. If I notice a problem and I don’t go back to fix it, it will drive me crazy every time I wear the socks.

I’m hoping to cast back on for a pair of charade socks tonight. I’m following your lead and going with some yarn pirate this time! :)
