Like a box of chocolates ~

you never know what your gonna to get (love that movie)……
Both skeins started out as a very light aqua blue, but I got the dyeing bug and decided to throw them in the pot. The top one turned out about like I thought it would – nice spruce/gray green. The bottom – total surprise. I thought it would be a dark brown, but it’s more like gray, brown, aubergine-ish sort of color. Odd, but I actually like it.
Next up on the dyeing front will be verigated. Ohh, that makes me nervous……

Hey! They look great! And half of the fun of dyeing is not knowing exactly what will come out of the pot. The dye just has to do its thing. You’re on a roll, I can’t wait to see what else you’ll come up with!

You know, the bottom pic almost looks a little bit varigated. VERY PRETTY!
I sent you an email. Chat more there!

VERY PRETTY! What base did you use? Are you using Jaquard Dyes?

Mmm. I’m about to embark on my own dye pot adventures. Soon- gotta get the toddler out of the house for a little while, and then I’ll fire up the cauldron! Can’t wait!

Oooh, nice! I knew you’d be good at this–a good color sense and an adventurous spirit is required and you have them in spades.

Both are beautiful. The top yarn reminds me of a sea glass.

variegated is super easy. i have a dishwasher dyeing tutorial on my blog, basically, you wet your yarn, lay it out neatly on a few sheets of overlapped plastic wrap squirt on however many colors you want (food coloring works super well and mccormick makes neon ones that are very vibrant and colormixing directions on the back!) dilute the dyes to the color you like in a cup or squirt bottle and put on each color, make sure it goes as far through as you want (i do 3 colors max, or different shades of the same color) wrap it up in the plastic like a nutroll and either steam it in a zippy bag next time you run the dishwasher, or put it on the stove in the usual way. easy. the twisted sisters sock book has lots of sock dyeing stuff in there, too. email me if you have questions. really.
