Tangled yarn. It happens. Boy does it ever happen. With alarming frequency…… but, more often than not, we’re able to get it get it back on the straight and narrow. However, there are times when we just can’t bear to face another tangled skein and, well, some of you live to untangle yarn and I live to serve! It just wouldn’t be nice of me to keep it all to myself!

Tangled times like these call for reinforcements. My reinforcements of choice today are dark chocolate and roasted almonds. Tell me, what are your go-to treats? Drop me a comment and tell me what your favorite snacks, drinks, etc. are when you’re having one of those days. You’ll be entered into a drawing to win a tangled skein of yarn. Two winners will be randomly chosen.  Comments will stay open through Monday, June 21 at noon Eastern.

Getting ready for an update too! Shop update Sunday, June 20th at 8:00 p.m. Eastern followed by a small sneak-up on Monday, June 21st.

Reese’s Fast Break or Bit O’Honey. My kids make fun of me, but my evening drink of choice is hot water.

Cathy D. on June 18, 2010 at 7:30 pm.

Wegman’s Ultimate Chocolate Cake with a glass of ice cold milk — preferably Oberweis, but unfortunately I don’t live in the Midwest so I have to settle for Stonyfield Farm organic.

Susan on June 18, 2010 at 7:38 pm.

Definitely chocolate, preferably with nuts, and if ice cream is involved that’s the best. So Ben & Jerry’s New York Super Fudge Chunk is p-e-r-f-e-c-t!

Donna on June 18, 2010 at 7:42 pm.

A nice glass of bubbly, and popcorn!

GinkgoKnits on June 18, 2010 at 8:06 pm.

See’s Candy (a perennial fav on the west coast) makes a milk chocolate bar with toffee bits that has always been a favorite of mine. If I’m at the mall and think I need a treat, it’s an easy choice. Otherwise, homemade cookies (oatmeal raisin are the current fav) are always a great pick me up.

I love wasabi almonds and green iced tea (specifically lipton’s pureleaf green iced tea because it isn’t too sweet) when my day is going crappy (though not at the same time because the flavours taste disgusting together which was a shock)

Jana on June 18, 2010 at 8:24 pm.

My favorite treat is a combination of gummy bears and sour patch kids. Yum!

regina on June 18, 2010 at 8:33 pm.

Chocolate (the darker the better) does it for me. I’m also partial to a big old glass of sangria after a tough day.

Mandy on June 18, 2010 at 8:36 pm.

Firstly, I’m sorry you’re having a ‘reinforcements needed’ day! My answer depends on where I am… If I’m visiting family, it’s gotta be UDF ice cream, cherry cordial (Spouse doesn’t like that flavor, so I don’t have to share). Visiting the fam is always stressful at least one day, so I’m guaranteed a sundae at least once. If, however, I am at home, it’s usually something salty, a handful of walnuts or some salt & vinegar chips. If it’s really bad, I dip into my stash of Ale-8-1, which is a brand of ginger ale that I buy a few 12 packs of at Cmas to bring home with me and make stretch through the year. Here’s hoping you have a better weekend!

Jodi on June 18, 2010 at 8:41 pm.

corn chips in winter and ice cream in summer (mint choc. chip seems to be the choice this summer).

Annie on June 18, 2010 at 8:53 pm.

Salty pretzels mushed up in chocolate ice cream … love the salty and sweet combo. Then, wash it down with a Brooklyn Brewery Black Chocolate Stout. yum.

Jackie on June 18, 2010 at 9:21 pm.

My favorite go to snack when I’m having one of those days is Reeses – frozen. The last 3 years I’ve been doing better with my eating and now I try to switch to almonds or a sugar free icee.

Sandy on June 18, 2010 at 9:29 pm.

Definitely red wine (shiraz, beaujolais, chianti, anything red) and chocolate. But more specifically – chocolate crack. Recipe here: http://smittenkitchen.com/2009/04/chocolate-caramel-crackers/

I usually have the ingredients in the pantry, so it’s easier than running to the store to pick something up. And I can substitute in a pinch. Like last week, when I used pretzel snaps instead of matzo. Glorious.

Becky on June 18, 2010 at 9:37 pm.

Ice cream! And it has to be really, really bad for you ice cream. Hubby and I have been known to sneak off to Cold Stone when it’s gets too rough at home. We sit in the car and eat our treats and talk and just be together in the quiet. Then we drive home, dispose of the evidence in the trash cans outside, check each other for any tell tale signs of our guilty pleasure, and then head back into the house refreshed and happy. One day we’ll get caught and there will be a kid revolt in the house!

Shauna on June 18, 2010 at 10:04 pm.

Hmmm, I love sharp white cheddar cheese, and if I need a sweet fix, I’m all about the chocolate. YUM!

Zonda on June 18, 2010 at 10:08 pm.

Gulp! I had no idea they sold chocolate covered almonds now!! Oh..I love chips. Good old Lays thick sliced sea salt chips!

Jeanne on June 18, 2010 at 10:14 pm.

Dark chocolate. If I’m doing something that doesn’t matter if my hands are greasy – a small bag of M&Ms dark poured into a bowl of hot popcorn. Yumm. Or Trader Joe’s Orange sticks – jellied orange covered in dark chocolate

Cary on June 18, 2010 at 10:23 pm.

Love fresh strawberries and nutella!!!

Kara on June 19, 2010 at 12:03 am.

Those days call for a Kit Kat & Dr. Pepper lately. Or maybe a Twix. Sometimes a trip to McDonalds. It really depends. :)

Dawn on June 19, 2010 at 1:34 am.

I have to say I’m in love with dark chocolate and mint…any combination of these. I also love a dark chocolate mint latte made by the hubby.

Cindy on June 19, 2010 at 6:29 am.

Peanut butter cookies with dark chocolate chipa!

reluctantmango on June 19, 2010 at 7:03 am.

Reese’s Cups. Or Snickers. Or well… you get the theme here. Chocolate and peanuts – match made in heaven if you ask me! Salty and sweet, and good for the soul, if not the hips :)

Diana on June 19, 2010 at 8:33 am.

My latest addiction is Riesen chocolates! Absolutely delightful, they melt all your worries away.

Lori Oellien on June 19, 2010 at 9:41 am.

i live in an area that has an incredible cupcake shop. if i have a bad day at work, the cupcake shop is on my way home.
i adore the the amaretto cupcakes. not only are they delicious with amaretto and sliced almonds in the icing, there is a whole mararschino on top, so it is as beautiful as it is delicious. a feast for the eye as well as the gently rounded tummy!

Jen on June 19, 2010 at 10:42 am.

Earl grey tea with milk and sugar. Normally with a nice scone too.

kim on June 19, 2010 at 12:57 pm.

oh gosh, tnagled yarn. you definitely need a treat to get through that kind of adventure. my go to, is a latte. i am spoiled enough to have a lovely espresso machine, and when i know i am heading into a disaster a warm frothy latte is what helps get things done! althought chocolate and nuts are also a great stand by.

Lisa E on June 19, 2010 at 2:14 pm.

A glass of good strong, full-bodied red wine usually helps an awful lot. If things are really bad, my husband makes fabulous appletinis with fresh caramel sauce at the bottom, and that makes life a whole lot better.

Also, Godiva key lime truffles. Mmmm….

Luba on June 19, 2010 at 2:32 pm.

Pasta. If I’m really feeling sorry for myself and don’t even want to cook, it has to be the frozen Penne Arabiatta from Trader Joes!

susan on June 19, 2010 at 3:08 pm.

Cadburys fruit and nut chocolate is always helpful.

And as for tangled yarn, it never bothers me, my husband is the one with the patience and he will sit in the evening watching the TV and untangle. He’s a star.

Oh and I keep him supplied with the fruit and nut chocolate.

Cynthia on June 19, 2010 at 4:24 pm.

A big glass of red wine or a vodka tonic usually does the trick for me. A bowl of popcorn with nutritional yeast is my go-to snack in the summer.

Darcy on June 19, 2010 at 4:39 pm.

I have been having health issues so on a strict diet but I love Mcdonalds french fries with extra salt and lindor truffles extra dark when able to have my favorite treats oh fries how I miss you;)Hugs Darcy

Elisabeth on June 19, 2010 at 5:29 pm.

Red wine and dark chocolate, preferably in the form of Tate’s chocolate chip cookies or Toscanini’s ice cream. I love detangling yarn!

Amy on June 19, 2010 at 5:39 pm.

Hmmmm…for a really tangled day, it’s some Lindt hot chili enhanced dark chocolate and a New Holland Poet…works every time!

Renee on June 19, 2010 at 6:29 pm.

What lovely tangles!

My go to snack is usually frozen vanilla yogurt with fresh strawberries, even if I have to rush out to the store just for those. Raspberries will do too.

Katie on June 19, 2010 at 8:07 pm.

Hershey’s Hugs and diet Coke can make any bad day better, especially if coupled with a long evening of knitting.

kelly-ann (on ravelry) on June 19, 2010 at 8:07 pm.

Dark Chocolate for me as well. I just found a bag of Dove Dark chocolate in the pantry 10 minutes ago that I totally forgot I bought (got back from vacation earlier today). How excited was I?!

Michelle on June 19, 2010 at 8:19 pm.

Ice cream as my favorite comfort food, but any type of chocolate will do in a pinch. We have a box of mini ice cream bites calling my name – they’re little, I should have two. ;-)

Karen Glotzbach on June 19, 2010 at 9:15 pm.

My problem lately is that I have way to many things that will soothe me… a spoonful of good quality caramel always hits the spot! And if I’m pretending to be healthful about my indulgence, then dried mango is yummy! I like those chocolate oven roasted almonds too! See – you are getting your protein!!!

Lauren on June 19, 2010 at 10:31 pm.

On one of those days? Hmmm, I think I’d grab some M&Ms or Thin Mints. If I have the time, homemade lemon shortbread.

kyle on June 20, 2010 at 3:16 am.

soup…as steaming hot as possible.

bellium on June 20, 2010 at 7:44 am.

sourdough bread slathered with butter and a sprinkle of coarse sea salt. heaven!

Angela on June 20, 2010 at 8:02 am.

One of those days … beverage of choice would be rum & coke :o ) Soothes the nerves. Go to snack depends on the season, if Spring Cadbury’s Mini Eggs … when those are gone, gool old Hershey nuggets with almonds :o )

Anett Kiefer on June 20, 2010 at 9:03 am.

I love chocolate and chocolate cookies. But I can’t resist a good mousse au chocolat.

Kim on June 20, 2010 at 9:28 am.

My go-to treats are chai lattes (or chai smoothies in the summer), peanut butter cups, and Ben and Jerry’s Half-Baked ice cream. Yum!

Thanks for having the contest!

TheBon on June 20, 2010 at 10:51 am.

plain ruffles potato chips.

Jocelyn on June 20, 2010 at 12:06 pm.

A big mug of coffee, extra strong and maybe a double layer of chocolate spread and peanut butter sandwich. Yum!

Jane on June 20, 2010 at 9:02 pm.

Ice cream, Little Debbie Swiss Cake Rolls, Terra Chips (or a combination of all three).

Aimee on June 20, 2010 at 10:12 pm.

A pint of Ben and Jerry’s Half Baked is my go to snack for a rough day. I always have some in the freezer.

Holly H on June 21, 2010 at 8:14 am.

A cappucino and a homemade nutbar — the ones from “Whitewtaer cooks” — a shortbread crust, a generous topping of caramel-coated nutty goodness and a sprinkling of sea salt on the top. I keep them in the freezer for emergencies.

Barbara on June 21, 2010 at 8:42 am.

A glass of merlot…really helps with those ‘oops!’
