Handknits in the wild ~

By | November 5, 2009

I spy a hand-knit in the wild!

Test knit by JenniferB.

Had a hayride last weekend and one particular out-of-towner forgot her mittens. A quick trip to the studio ensued to see what sort of wool wear I might have on hand – these fit the bill perfectly.

Soon to be a knitted rectangle, as opposed to a box. Do have to say though, even though the first Forever Tweed was not the most flattering knit, I’ve worn it quit a bit and will continue to do so. It’s just so cozy and it actually is quite cute with a button down and jeans. Did I mention cozy? So you can imagine how excited I am to finish the smaller, more rectangular version.

This brings me to a question: What are your favorite, go-to handknits? The ones you can’t leave home without? The ones you knit over and over again because they are loved, well worn, cute, kicky, versatile, cozy….and, well, just the perfect knit.

Tell me. I’ll be taking entries all through this week and drawing two winners from the entries on Monday, November 9th. I’ll choose two winners who will each receive a skein of Plucky Yarn!

Also, yikes that’s not my blog… I think I put the url in incorrectly! This one is right!

Mostly I can’t live without socks. I’m always knitting a pair of socks. The blankets are too big for travel, and I haven’t gotten up the guts to do a sweater yet. Maybe that’s next.

But socks. They don’t leave my project bag.

I have to agree w/a lot of the comments, that first pair of socks, just plain socks..they have such meaning to them!

May I just say, the hand model for the adorable owl mittens was superb!!! :) Thanks again for putting up with us the other weekend. It was GREAT just hanging out and catching up. Don’t forget, we need to lock in a date for you to come our way soon! Love ya,

I am definitely in a Plucky hat/ beret mood as of late. Millers Hat is next on the list using Plucky worsted in Honey Wilkes. And let’s be honest… you just can’t beat a Plucky small shawl/wrap!

I think hats, scarves, and shawlettes are the perfect knits – quick, simple, and beautiful. I still love knitting (and wearing) my socks though too!

Hmm…I guess it would have to be my Unoriginal Hat. I wear that all the time, as soon as it’s cold enough! And knit socks, from various patterns. I always have a pair of socks on the needles. :)

Hmm…that’s a toughie for me because I’m into the variety of it all, but I definitely would have to say scarves/shawls. I have so many awesome ones that I’ve knit and I just can’t leave home without one – the perfect accessory!

Socks are definitely my go to knit. I love to knit them, whether patterned or plain. However, I seem to give all of my socks away. The handknit I use the most is my Noro striped scarf. I’ve been meaning to make another one.
