Help.Me.Please.

Ladies (and maybe the one lone masculine knitter out there), this is serious.    It has been brought to my attention (not by anyone in  particular, but by noticing the sheer number of needles with yarn/projects dangling from them  in varying bits of progression laying about my house, my car and my office. Shown above are just a few of the culprits..…) that I have  been starting one project after another, after another, after another, and, well you get the idea.    Some ending in frustration (darn holes in the heels, but that seems to be fixed now),  chevron scarves (several tries) that weren’t “quite right”. Some projects  ending out of boredom and others languishing from  pure distraction.

Speaking of distraction – I can’t tell you how badly I want to wind this up and cast on for….. something. The colors are adorable!!!

Yarn Pirate – Rosie – I want to make these…..

So, is there any cure for Startitis? How do you cope? Sammy and I both want to know.

For me, I just have 2 projects going. A traveling project and a “big” project. Maybe if you frog anything you honestly don’t think you’ll finish that would be one way to clear it out. Another thing you could do is put the yarn that you KNOW you won’t use right away into a storage container so you aren’t tempted, then work down the rest of your stash.

And, if you can stand it, don’t buy anymore yarn for a while. (Warning – this takes major restraing)….

As for that new yarn in the pic, use that as your reward to knit with next after you finish one of the projects you have hanging around.

Of course, you could always condense all of your needles and yarn into one area, and then maybe the ribbing will stop.

HaHaHa…I have no idea what to suggest because that would be pure hypocrisy on my part! If you do find a cure, be sure to bottle it–you could make a fortune!

I can only have one project going at a time when I have a goal. Otherwise I get total knitting ADD. Right now I have deadlines so it’s one thing at a time. It makes me motivated to finish because I get so sick of the one thing.

I am coveting that Rosie BTW!

Come visit me!

Girl, you need some knitting deadlines. Tell someone you’re making socks for their birthday or something. Of course, this requires gifting some of the UFOs, which may not be what you had planned but that’s how I get out of startitis!

OH MAN, I very nearly bought that same colorway from Yarn Pirate. Loved it. I’m just not buying yarn… which is how I deal with startitis. I usually have to shame myself out of it by showing a number of people just how many things I actually have going. That’s generally embarrassing enough to make me stop and pick one or two things to work on. :) So maybe you’ll be cured now that you’ve exposed your condition to the world!

I like how Sammy is almost looking up at the Rosie yarn saying — c’mon already cast that yarn on the needles!

I have it on good authority that startitis usually resolves itself. Until it does, embrace it!
