Simple Things Saturday II ~
By Sarah | February 28, 2009

- Breakfast at the local diner with Bob and some old friends.
- Loving the fact that today is, in fact, the last Saturday of February. Oops. Thanks for all the gentle reminders from you to check my calendar….. last week was simply wishful thinking on my part.
- Thrilled that this hectic week is over.
- Even more thrilled that though I’ve fallen on the ice (or as I like to call it, the hill of death) twice in a 12 hour period between last night and early this morning, the only thing that is hurt is a bruised bum.
- Tomorrow is the first of March – oh how I’ve been looking forward to March.
- Happy to announce the winner of last Saturday’s contest. Jackie you won! If you’d be so kind as to email me at dimsarah at yahoo.com with your contact information I’ll get you your skein cashmere.
- Grateful that things are getting organized here at the studio, which also means things are starting to get more organized at home. Baby steps, right
- Actually have time today to **gasp** knit!!!

Bought this one on clearance for the simple fact that it wasn’t white or ivory.
Things I’m wondering~
- Why are good lampshades so hard to find?
- And, why does it seem they are all either white or ivory?
- Do you know where to find good lampshades? Colorful. Interesting. Unique. In the meantime I think I’ll scour eBay.
- Anyone else wanting to knit this or this? I want to knit both. This week I’ll be dyeing up a batch of my single ply merino lace weight – perfect for the Whisper cardigan.

Hurray for March! I’m more than ready to bid adieu to February. Love both those patterns, esp. the diminishing rib cardi.
I’m glad to hear I’m not alone in having an awful time finding lampshades! I bought some cute blue floral print ones at IKEA a couple years ago, but my new MO is buying art glass/Tiffany lamps and just eliminating the lampshade problem altogether.

Oh, I am going to knit the whisper cardigan too! In fact I am hoping that my four skeins of Quite contrary might be enough to knit it with! (I have to size it up a bit…my bust is not that small!! Can’t wait to see what you dye for yours. Maybe if you have leftovers you might do a sneak up?

I love both of those patterns! And I *love* the fact that February is over, too!
I agree with Jodi (above). Ikea has some cute and interesting lampshades.

I really like the Diminishing Rib Cardi – such a nice shape! A wish for you – I hope you might be able to squeeze in some more knitting tomorrow:)

I just sent you and email….I am THRILLED to have won your last contest!!!
I, too, have big trouble with lampshades. Most are boring, aren’t they? Then when you find something you love, it’s not the right scale for your lamp. I’m not close to an Ikea but based on the other comments it might be worth a trip.

i really like that first IK cardigan you linked to!
it’s tough to find good lampshades. i usually try places like home goods or world market. world market is FUN!

Ikea has some really awesome lampshades with lots of colors to choose from.
I have my eye on the Whisper Cardi for sure!

Those are my two favorite sweaters in the new IK. I’m hoping that you dye enough of the merino laceweight to offer some of it for sale (she writes, crossing her fingers tightly).
have a great day, and enjoy your knitting time!

I already have my yarn at the ready for Diminishing Rib when I finish February Lady. It is such a sweet cardigan. I might say it’s the cutest all around batch of patterns I’ve seen in IK for a while.
You know I’m a lamp freak. I have ordered from these two sources…

I’d love to make the Diminishing Ribs cardigan! What a clever pattern. However, I’m currently working on about 5 baby projects
We’ll see if I get some “me” time…

I like both those patterns too; in fact, I’m knitting the Diminishing Ribs cardigan at the moment, had to order yarn as soon as I saw it in this issue!
