Simple Things Saturday ~

By | February 21, 2009

Simple things I’m enjoying this snowy Saturday:

  1. Enjoying the fact that the studio is now online! Thank you helpful telephone company man.
  2. Refurbishing an old sewing stool my Dad found at a junk shop.
  3. Working in my quiet studio (getting ready for a shop update tomorrow, working on February’s shipment of Plucky Classics).
  4. Listening to my trusty iPod (Duffy, Phantom of the Opera soundtrack, Patsy Cline and Bon Jovi to name a few. How’s that for crazy?) which, definitely makes the studio not so quiet. Go ahead, click the links. It’s entertaining. Especially the Bon Jovi clip (for all you 80′s kids out there).
  5. Dreaming of colorwork.
  6. Loving the new font on my blog header. Thank you Jill!
  7. Very happy that the first day of Spring is less than a month away.

The before.

Back soon with the after pics.

Things I’m not loving so much today:

  1. The fact that the first day of Spring is about a month away.
  2. It’s snowing, blowing and nasty outside.
  3. Bob has a bad cold.
  4. Much too much laundry to do.
  5. Still not finished getting all the tax information to the accountant.

So, I think this is a great time to have another contest. Tell me what you are up to this last Saturday in February (I love to hear what you guys are up to). I’ll draw a name from all entries – the winning entry will receive a skein of aran cashmere – there’s still plenty of time to whip up a pair of Toast or something equally cozy.

Mr.M came after week of training his squash team, so I baked apricot cake for him, relaxed, knitted and read :)

The last saturday in february (which is upcoming saturday ;-) , we are going to celebrate my sons second birthday! Grandparents will be there, so I guess I will be making coffee, serving cake.
Last saturday, I made 80 fastelaven-buns, which we ate a whole lot of yesterday in the traditional way with whipped cream in the middle. Yummy! Other than that, I am constantly drooling on my computer over all the gorgeous yarn and knitting people are producing;-)

Saturday was super-busy for me. Errands, a birthday lunch at a lovely park right at the top of Cape Town, under the mountain. It was a lovely day, warm and windy and cobalt blue skies. Then I took my niece to my counsin’s 3-year-old’s birthday party. Lots of toddlers amped up on sugar, super fun! There was a giant spider cake, though, which was awesome. You can keep your Black Forest Gateau, kid’s party cake is the best. After that it was home to watch Star Trek and sew up a baby cardigan that I had just finished, and wind some lovely cashmere laceweight with my nostepinne. A very busy but quite productive day :) .

Got back from a week in Florida with the kids, working on a pretty sock, getting back into routine with school, etc.

I will be in the middle of my first trip EVER to Las Vegas!! My good friend moved there a few years ago and if having a fancy wedding out there, so I’m quite excited to get all dressed up and gamble! Hopefully I’ll win a little money too!

It’s Monday, I missed the shop update-again. A bit bummed because I have been missing having any of your lovely yarn in my stash. :)

Saturday included cleaning, laundry, ironing, a wee bit of knitting a sock, working about the same amount on a baby gift and a quick trip to Kansas City.

Hi – this time of year, I help my husband with his tax business and weekends are way too short. I’m also using some of your merino to make a scarf for a friend. Why is your shop update sold out already?

I had a busy Saturday. I got up early, made Shaker lemon pie for dinner with my parents, did a full workout and laundry, knit some on my Francis Revisited and started a new pair of Spring Forward socks. Then I showered up and went to dinner with my family. We had my aunt and uncle in from out of town, and it was very good to see them. We’ve had multiple funerals over the last 6 months, so having people in one place for a good reason (a visit for fun) was very healing.

I love Saturdays when I finally have a big block of time for crafting :) I worked on a quilt, made a maternity dress, and finished knitting the Peapod baby cardi.
Hope Bob feels better soon!

This Saturday was spent trekking on Mount Royal with my boyfriend :) Next Saturday I’m going to be climbing up a frozen waterfall (ice climbing, a first!) with some friends from school.
P.S.: I’m usually a lurker, but this is the best time to mention that I really enjoy reading your blog :) Keep it up!

I was taking my dogs to the vet on Saturday, for their boosters and rabies vaccines. would much rather have been home knitting!

My husband and I had our belated Valentine’s Day date. I went to Madrona Fiber Arts last weekend so we decided to celebrate this Saturday. My mom came over and took care of our baby and then we went and had lunch together and saw a movie in our favorite little city, Port Townsend. We had a blast.

Being a nurse, my job goes on 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The last Saturday in February? Working, of course! I will do some knitting on the bus, though!

kaet on February 23, 2009 at 3:16 pm.

oh gosh, the last saturday in february i spent the whole day (7am-8pm) at work, went home, had a huge glass of riesling and watched the hockey game on tv with a lentil salad and my dog…not exciting right?!?!

Sleeping in, brunch with the boyfriend, knitting, and running errands. I’ll probably have to throw some homework in there somewhere, too. But that’s a typical Saturday at my house!

I finally got my family up the mountain for an afternoon of cross-country skiing. Sunshine, mild temp. Lovely workout as a family. Came home to lasagna I had frozen a few weeks ago. De-lish.

Saturday was my husband’s birthday. Our eldest son flew home from Boulder to surprise him. The boys took their dad to see those “guy” movies that I won’t see. That night went to his favorite sushi bar for dinner and the yogurt shop for dessert.

Last Saturday I went to the library – it’s a three hour walk to town and back from the place that I’m housesitting, so that took quite a bit of the day. Next Saturday I don’t know what I’ll be doing yet.

Saturday was a day full of studying for me – I am a Textile and Apparel Design and Math major with an overwhelming load this semester. I caught up on sleep in the morning and got to work!

I was running around, with a houseful of overnight guests, planning a memorial service for both of my husband’s parents, for Sunday. As that was just too sad and dreary, don’t you think I deserve some lovely yarn to perk me up?? :)

Kerry on February 25, 2009 at 1:12 am.

I had a houseful of overnight guests and was running around like an idiot, organizing a double memorial service for my husband’s parents, which took place on Sunday.

As that’s just too sad and dreary, don’t you think I deserve some lovely yarn as a pick-me-up?? :)

Catrina on February 25, 2009 at 10:14 am.

This past Saturday was a lazy one for our family, catching up on housework and getting organized for the week ahead. There was still plenty of time to get some LEGO construction and refreshing outdoor play in, however!

catsnrabbits on February 25, 2009 at 1:33 pm.

I am taking a well-deserved do nothing important weekend. I’ve been so busy lately that I want a couple of days to relax with the cats and bunnies. Oh yeah, and knit!

Lisa on February 25, 2009 at 10:33 pm.

I look forward to a quiet Saturday after too many Saturdays of driving children to and from various activities. The stool is great!

Jami Maloney on February 26, 2009 at 7:34 pm.

Actually isn’t the 28th the last Saturday in February?

Chris on February 26, 2009 at 11:47 pm.

Last sat I spent travelling in a car for about 10 hrs-for a family visit knowing a migraine was cooking up-wiped out the whole time !! How stupid was that!

Mandy on February 27, 2009 at 8:15 am.

This coming Saturday is going to be a very full day…I’m continuing to tackle my wedding planning with only 91 days to go, I am taking my brand new puppy to be groomed (that’s right, planning a wedding just wasn’t enough stress so I got myself a puppy!), am hoping to find a couple of minutes to read or knit, and will spend the evening with my partner. It should be a good day, though I imagine that I will be a little tired at the end of it.

Becky on February 27, 2009 at 7:09 pm.

The last Saturday in Feb? I am going to get the house clean! I need to organize all the yarn that is taking over and get ready for the lastest Plucky arivals! Enjoy your weekend!
