Hayrides, Bonfires & A Meme ~

By | November 15, 2008

The past week has been a blur. It started late last week with out-of-town company arriving and then all the ensuing hay ride, bonfires, movies and general merriment.

Sam – of course Sam was there.

Your eyes do not deceive you. That is a real, working toilet and a porcelain sink (hot and cold running water and electricity). Fanciest outhouse. Ever.

My Dad – totally in his element. Hayrides for his grandkids and their friends.

Sensory over-load for Sam

The scenic route.

Of course he put lights in the trees… it gets dark out here, three miles from the nearest paved road. Totally the middle of nowhere.

There was a fire. A Big Fire.

My Dad in his “hayride” hat (every hayride for over twenty years now).

Seriously. This bonfire was fit for a Viking funeral or something.

Not sure how he talked me into this one.

It’s been a while since a meme has gone around. Saw this one (have you seen Alicia’s blog and book? It’s so darling – you’ll love it!) and thought it would be fun – it’s just one word, you can do it… go ahead, play along!

Can’t get enough of Sam. And now I can’t get enough of Sam and your dad in his hayride hat!

Hayrides and bonfires are such great fun! Looks like Sam had the most fun. I have outhouse envy ~ we don’t have any like that around here…

Dh wants the outhouse….with 9 kids running around, you do not get any privacy and he is so drooling over the idea!!!! Love the last picture, gave me a nice giggle!

Adorable pictures! The beret really updates American Gothic in the best way possible.

oh, Sammy is looking so distinguished these days. Bostons are so cute when they tuck their ears back. I think the American Gothic photo of you and Bob would make a great Christmas card.
